The Organization: Alberta's YouthVOLUNTEER! is a registered nonprofit
+ r- V: b3 m1 ~& p' ]8 wsociety led by a youth board of directors to enhance/encourage youth
volunteerism in Alberta. By working with nonprofit organizations/youth
+ a3 z8 k+ [8 _  j! Jages 14-24, we foster collaboration between motivated youth,
organizations and citizens wanting to build healthier societies and more
sustainable communities.

Position Abstract: The Executive Director provides day-to-day management
8 t+ g5 t0 N  R! ?# T$ j9 mand leadership of Alberta's YouthVOLUNTEER! (AYV!). The ED is a
non-voting member and champions youth volunteerism in Alberta.  The ED
' i* @. {9 s- \3 dworks within the structures set by the organization's bylaws and
3 p6 I8 f& e" Z/ T2 K3 c% _% }$ Hpolicies to ensure ethical and professional management of organization's
" F" M$ |% K3 K( iaffairs at all times.

Primary Responsibilities: Helps Board of Directors in developing a
vision & strategic plan; Establish strong relationships & collaborative
arrangements with community groups, sponsors, governments, schools,
media/other stakeholders to achieve the goals of AYV!; Prepare reports
for the Board; Assist the Board in drafting policies/prepare procedures
to implement the organizational policies.

PLUS: Ensure good record keeping; Ensure funders' grants are stewarded
as per their requirements; Plan, implement and evaluate programs and
services; Recruit, interview, select & coach staff/volunteers that have
& U4 j! {. n5 G; y5 Ethe right abilities to help further the organization's mission.

+ J5 R) {/ z# W' oIn addition: Prepare budget; Search & secure adequate; oversees the
) g. [; @- @' M9 F* J: t9 \development of fundraising plans/writing funding proposals; Administer
the funds of the organization & monitor the monthly cash flow; Ensure
that bookkeeping/accounting practices are followed; Process accounts
payable; Develop communication/marketing tools to increase awareness of
3 T$ R3 X' K+ K8 z) o  C& Zthe organization & its programs; Work with website contractor/developer.

Key Qualifications: Experience working with a number of different groups
* `/ |) _# U4 r; \; G% jincluding a Board of Directors, non-profit organizations, government
partners sponsors, employees, volunteers, and youth; Understanding of
organizational financial management and CRA requirements; Ability to
! R6 w8 T5 ~  Nwork in a self-directed work environment; Experience planning and
& z2 W( A4 Z; `6 vmanaging projects and budgets.

PLUS: Creative approach to marketing; Understanding of board governance
( v' I) K- r0 A  ^processes an asset; Experience obtaining sponsorship and writing
proposals; A youthful spirit and enthusiasm for championing and working
