society led by a youth board of directors to enhance/encourage youth
volunteerism in Alberta. By working with nonprofit organizations/youth
  P& C# C, {! Z' J9 Uages 14-24, we foster collaboration between motivated youth,
organizations and citizens wanting to build healthier societies and more
6 J9 \8 B( m) Psustainable communities.

Position Abstract: The Executive Director provides day-to-day management
# {* ~" K: J8 ]% kand leadership of Alberta's YouthVOLUNTEER! (AYV!). The ED is a
non-voting member and champions youth volunteerism in Alberta.  The ED
works within the structures set by the organization's bylaws and
policies to ensure ethical and professional management of organization's
7 Y5 Q# w. f7 U- \2 _$ Caffairs at all times.

Primary Responsibilities: Helps Board of Directors in developing a
- a& U% D! K) uvision & strategic plan; Establish strong relationships & collaborative
arrangements with community groups, sponsors, governments, schools,
media/other stakeholders to achieve the goals of AYV!; Prepare reports
) Y- ]; N$ _+ g4 @+ }$ W& h1 S# efor the Board; Assist the Board in drafting policies/prepare procedures
to implement the organizational policies.

PLUS: Ensure good record keeping; Ensure funders' grants are stewarded
  k9 ^& D4 Q/ `) y9 z6 Yas per their requirements; Plan, implement and evaluate programs and
services; Recruit, interview, select & coach staff/volunteers that have
the right abilities to help further the organization's mission.

; z8 \9 V4 u, S1 a( N# \7 WIn addition: Prepare budget; Search & secure adequate; oversees the
development of fundraising plans/writing funding proposals; Administer
the funds of the organization & monitor the monthly cash flow; Ensure
that bookkeeping/accounting practices are followed; Process accounts
' @6 }2 R9 t% f) Bpayable; Develop communication/marketing tools to increase awareness of
the organization & its programs; Work with website contractor/developer.

Key Qualifications: Experience working with a number of different groups
% Z( I! o2 ?; |including a Board of Directors, non-profit organizations, government
partners sponsors, employees, volunteers, and youth; Understanding of
' k4 {8 M1 O$ L1 y( j# \4 Vorganizational financial management and CRA requirements; Ability to
work in a self-directed work environment; Experience planning and
2 Z- V/ p& J6 t/ ~  R, K. Q/ hmanaging projects and budgets.

PLUS: Creative approach to marketing; Understanding of board governance
; p+ G# c% p9 _4 J. rprocesses an asset; Experience obtaining sponsorship and writing
* [& O1 F; k. H2 cproposals; A youthful spirit and enthusiasm for championing and working
+ p% z+ G. e+ D7 V) p* `4 cwith youth.
