Position Abstract: The Executive Director provides day-to-day management# a! [) m( J/ l* N; A' ?) h. ~% X
and leadership of Alberta's YouthVOLUNTEER! (AYV!). The ED is a
$ V9 w, O0 [' enon-voting member and champions youth volunteerism in Alberta. The ED) C; r: ^3 P' I( C$ M
works within the structures set by the organization's bylaws and
+ q* ?% j7 [7 ~: tpolicies to ensure ethical and professional management of organization's( P: w$ o! f9 ^. Y8 j
affairs at all times.9 z3 M B: q) K: _) v. F3 L8 V
5 M9 T3 `4 T8 [7 m& GPrimary Responsibilities: Helps Board of Directors in developing a0 O0 T6 Y: e/ i% N
vision & strategic plan; Establish strong relationships & collaborative8 M4 n% f# M1 M2 [9 a
arrangements with community groups, sponsors, governments, schools,
* e" ~+ I7 l& I0 k& M p, fmedia/other stakeholders to achieve the goals of AYV!; Prepare reports
# L* r/ }! X I# I/ q+ A# \+ U5 v) e; @6 Cfor the Board; Assist the Board in drafting policies/prepare procedures
7 t5 }* B9 `; G( o% gto implement the organizational policies.& k1 ^. C( d3 F+ ^

PLUS: Ensure good record keeping; Ensure funders' grants are stewarded: ~6 N8 h' P, l6 k7 I
as per their requirements; Plan, implement and evaluate programs and& ^, n/ x2 q+ s% A
services; Recruit, interview, select & coach staff/volunteers that have2 C* S, I z2 p$ J; Q7 |" Q' ]8 }1 A
the right abilities to help further the organization's mission.

. f+ u' E' I: @+ w# a7 n8 EIn addition: Prepare budget; Search & secure adequate; oversees the

that bookkeeping/accounting practices are followed; Process accounts
) m$ D7 o1 x8 j* o7 f& h' t* jpayable; Develop communication/marketing tools to increase awareness of

Key Qualifications: Experience working with a number of different groups
' m2 W" a9 q: i- a( t7 O8 A+ wincluding a Board of Directors, non-profit organizations, government
% x( w: O# o8 f5 X W% y7 u3 ~6 Zpartners sponsors, employees, volunteers, and youth; Understanding of$ e" G9 F) z8 E& O$ P
organizational financial management and CRA requirements; Ability to0 c2 s2 D* `$ F# F
work in a self-directed work environment; Experience planning and4 ?7 P% x e% v" A9 q; C$ F
managing projects and budgets.
