9 Z0 ]1 P) A, G) XSpecific duties vary with positions and Departments and involve performing general labouring duties that may include:
5 h( o2 q, p: V. q$ P) Z3 @Drainage Services, Asset Management & Public Works# p( k7 o$ K$ {7 {" z' ~
• Construction of sewer lines, catch basins, access and drop manholes, watermains, feedmains, hydrants, ditches, water appurtenances, concrete structures such as storm outlets.8 K F. U h# e0 C- ?6 W6 O
• Digging holes and trenches by hand, excavation activities on major open cut projects ensuring placement of shoring, timbers, and struts; cutting, grinding levelling, jointing and laying of pipe.

J' ^6 g• Repairing sewer services, main lines and pumping stations; cleaning sewer and drainage systems by low pressure flushing; assisting drainage servicemen in inspecting, rodding and televising sewer services; repairing manholes and catchbasins; assisting equipment operators in performing high pressure flushing and vaccuum cleaning activities.$ q9 @: V! l" _- Q; J- i( B, J9 G
Parks, Asset Management & Public Works$ ?; ~+ n; \, u
• Maintenance of parks: mowing, herbiciding and sanitation of turf, shrub and flower bed maintenance, marking & maintaining sports fields, playground inspections and servicing. , x$ b4 f5 ?$ y2 |7 c' _
• Construction of parks: manual labour using hand tools such as shovels, rakes and stake pounders.( h& h w a8 e% V" I Y2 C @2 o7 R3 {
• Park service and trail maintenance: including sanitation of picnic sites, amenity buildings, repair of signs, roadways, trail surfaces, irrigation & homeless camps.
7 O: v6 }* o, e) { x2 V2 Z; x3 U& j• Forestry operations including various arboriculture tasks- assist in the development and maintenance of the urban forest.! u+ }5 Z2 } M) [- z' H; m
• Pesticide Applicators license an asset.

Roadway Maintenance / Traffic Field Operations, Transportation
; _! B6 \* B' \, d+ ~( s• Asphalt/concrete repairs, cracksealing, and paving.) e6 m4 Y9 t( N8 {
• Performing structural concrete/steel duties on bridge maintenance (must be able to work heights).
& ~2 x9 i! p# p; ~+ M• Pouring, spreading, tamping and leveling soil, sand, gravel and concrete.
# f, k$ C9 B% i/ C• Working in traffic during street construction/maintenance projects.
: }& _- k; P1 `; H• Installation, maintenance and removal of road markings, traffic / detour control devices.

/ g" ^% v0 u$ n7 n, R+ X1 k• Golf course, driving range, and park maintenance including turf mowing, fertilizer and pesticide application.. d5 t) V3 d& y
• Internments at cemetaries; concrete pouring of foundations and markers; monument restoration.
" D! b! |4 P% k- A/ j) [; m• Operating and performing minor maintenance with equipment such as: small hand tools, push lawn mowers, trimmers, edgers, small rototillers, and chain saws.

• Assists with on-going general facility maintenance and cleaning at Recreation Facilities.

• Loading and unloading materials from trucks.& m4 c0 @+ D ]8 I
• Assisting tradesman and other more experienced staff & performing other related duties as required.

, Y, C8 `) {6 W% Y. I2 e• Completion of the eighth school grade or equivalent. Must be indicated on application/resume.4 D" g. Z& W2 z& z3 \- m# z
• Possession of a valid Motor Vehicle Operator's License. Must be indicated on application/resume.8 B5 D. I9 M5 x. U- _2 d7 U( U
• Applicants may be tested, and where required to operate a City vehicle, must attain a City of Edmonton driving permit upon appointment.
2 D5 F, s ?5 r' L9 B( u• Physically capable of performing heavy labour work for extended periods of time under various weather and traffic conditions.

HOURS OF WORK: Up to 40 hours per week. Hours of work will vary with each position. These positions may be subject to shift work, providing coverage 7 days per week. Please indicate if you’re interested in shift work.' ^& l5 b. X" m: g1 G
SALARY RANGE: 10M, Salary Grade: 013, starting at $15.11 (Hourly). Rates are based on employee status and length of service. The rates quoted are in accordance with an agreement between the Union and the City.
