The Research Data Centres (RDC) Program is part of an initiative from Statistics Canada, the

Classification: Statistics Canada CR-04, Term, Part-time
Location: Research Data Centre, University of Alberta, Edmonton, Alberta
Hourly rate: $20 ($40,101 per annum prorated at 12 hours per week)
5 f$ W- w+ j3 j" L% B7 FEmployment Tenure: Part-time/Causal (approximately 12 hours per week). The incumbent’s
schedule should be reasonably flexible.

Job description
Statistics Canada is looking for a reliable individual for a part-time position to work evenings and
weekend hours.
/ [7 Y6 j6 W9 V/ R" o! l& QYou will be responsible for ensuring the integrity of the Research Data Centre (RDC) computer
, H0 j, n$ G" |$ K" c7 R. [! y2 ilab located on the University of Alberta campus as well as providing administrative support for the
centre.
! n* f( A; F$ V/ ]( yThese responsibilities include:
-Maintain the integrity of the security systems in the RDC.
* V6 }% e& A- u# j5 i$ c$ y-Provide basic support to clients on operating Window XP.
-Provide general office administration support, such as filing, upgrading software and
renewing licenses, communicating with various university departments with respect to
: s8 \" y* V& x3 C. p% ]. E2 R. Cfacilities’ maintenance, etc.
2 ]0 v+ \. d3 v, M2 b3 r% H-Conduct other office related tasks, such as Internet documents search, backup of electronic
clients’ files etc.
Statement of Qualifications
/ x9 b) X; X0 B4 Z6 v8 k$ W1 cEducation:
-Successful completion of Bachelor degree in administration, business, computer sciences,
education, economics, sociology, statistics or related discipline; or an acceptable combination
of education, training and /or experience.
Knowledge/Technical competencies:
-General knowledge of the Microsoft Window operating system.
-Extensive experience in using Microsoft Window office application software including Word
and Excel.
! F% s; B) \# h6 P% G( j-Experience using and updating an information database.

+ F6 W' _: K* B, XAssets:
" p; [. e* i9 ~; L-Experience in using MS Access.
- a4 a9 v. {! k4 ~) o% g-Experience in web page publication, xml and/or IT network knowledge.
-Experience in one of the Statistics software: SAS, SPSS or STATA
! {. n$ B+ D# d, p, ]! ^# N, FAbilities:
' d( v6 l% E9 F4 I-Ability to communicate orally and in writing.
" R( F, }+ m* K5 _/ I' Y3 e-Ability to operate a computerized system to research information.
-Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
* D6 f5 R8 K3 K8 h) r9 `. ?Personal suitability: Dependable, detail orientated, discrete, thorough, effective interpersonal
relations.
