Position: Part-time Assistant
Classification: Statistics Canada CR-04, Term, Part-time
Location: Research Data Centre, University of Alberta, Edmonton, Alberta
* h8 k1 Q4 ^5 B' S9 @2 YHourly rate: $20 ($40,101 per annum prorated at 12 hours per week)
Employment Tenure: Part-time/Causal (approximately 12 hours per week). The incumbent’s
schedule should be reasonably flexible.

Job description
1 m' \8 F$ K" E7 h4 I& F0 ]Statistics Canada is looking for a reliable individual for a part-time position to work evenings and
weekend hours.
You will be responsible for ensuring the integrity of the Research Data Centre (RDC) computer
7 q' q5 l8 t4 elab located on the University of Alberta campus as well as providing administrative support for the
( Z" d  L6 ?0 k7 D; `$ ?8 h& _( |centre.
These responsibilities include:
-Maintain the integrity of the security systems in the RDC.
$ r  V; a5 s. J% s-Provide basic support to clients on operating Window XP.
-Provide general office administration support, such as filing, upgrading software and
renewing licenses, communicating with various university departments with respect to
facilities’ maintenance, etc.
-Conduct other office related tasks, such as Internet documents search, backup of electronic
7 c. U3 q! ^& u2 sclients’ files etc.
Statement of Qualifications
Education:
-Successful completion of Bachelor degree in administration, business, computer sciences,
  b$ l0 t! b. [. V/ I# D& I& D7 o. Qeducation, economics, sociology, statistics or related discipline; or an acceptable combination
; b8 c* t1 ~/ X! N) `* ]& `8 hof education, training and /or experience.
Knowledge/Technical competencies:
$ R  D. f" [2 Z-General knowledge of the Microsoft Window operating system.
-Extensive experience in using Microsoft Window office application software including Word
' ^6 r- m+ `4 T/ H7 aand Excel.
3 q% B' \" w' B-Experience using and updating an information database.
0 t* {% V% |! G$ z- H
Assets:
/ ]3 \. O. B+ w3 m' p' K  o+ a-Experience in using MS Access.
-Experience in web page publication, xml and/or IT network knowledge.
-Experience in one of the Statistics software: SAS, SPSS or STATA
; G4 R  ~' }# ]( \% P6 s" A4 \Abilities:
* M/ E4 t# }2 j, B% ]+ v6 l  O-Ability to communicate orally and in writing.
-Ability to operate a computerized system to research information.
-Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

relations.
