EDMONTON — Southgate Centre today began a $108 million expansion to accommodate more than 30 new retailers and restaurants.8 ^4 y x+ v; M$ ]/ b; B E
2 f- I @0 U+ Y/ J9 HThe two-year project, facing 111th Street, will add 126,000 square feet of leasable space on the ground floor — and two levels of parking above.

“Part of the redevelopment will include enhanced site lighting and closed-circuit TV security systems monitored 24 hours a day, seven days a week,” said Southgate general manager Paul Fairbridge.8 u1 q* {. f: e0 n) v- Y4 \

It also will include hotel-quality washrooms and private sitting rooms for nursing mothers." k" c+ G; M4 H. X7 ^

Southgate, a 36-year-old mall located south and west of 51st Avenue and 111th Street, now has 130 stores and services. It is owned by Ivanhoe Cambridge, based in Montreal.
