For longer term with inestment protection, I would suggest Seg fund where it guarantees up to 100% of your investment on 15years or longer term. The guarantee moves up accordingly to the daily market high for few years and you can sell at anytime with no obligation.

Or you can invest into Income funds that generates fixed income (slightly higher than GIC) or equities as accordingly to your risk. High risk, high return.
