6 |: a' L" l' yCalgary police have now laid charges against an 18-year-old Calgary woman following the death of a little girl at a crosswalk in the city's northwest.
+ M/ Y6 g- H. R) G7 dPolice Sgt. Doug McIlwraith said Tuesday that Angela Ta has been charged with passing a motor vehicle stopped for a pedestrian at a crosswalk, failing to yield at a crosswalk, and careless driving.- ?* R) q! |2 ~8 m! t
McIlwraith says the charges could mean a licence suspension, a $2,000 fine or six months in jail.# T: l; b! P/ Y1 Y; K' k* l
Six-year-old Jenna Chang and her mother, Ye Qiao, were struck Jan. 18 by a black BMW while using a marked crosswalk at 32 Avenue and 37 Street N.W.1 `$ a7 H9 v' w
Chang died of her injuries. Her mother is recovering in hospital.
