CALGARY -- Alberta's new solicitor general hopes to have more boots walking the beat this year, intensifying the fight against crime in the province.

Fred Lindsay told Sun Media yesterday plans are in the works to increase the number of RCMP officers and special constables patrolling Alberta roads this year.

& }  O5 @3 h+ d! ?Chop shops, where stolen cars are stripped for parts, and marijuana grow-ops have all started to sprout up throughout rural Alberta, said Lindsay.
