中国同学遇见老外,想知道人家的姓是怎么拼的,经常脱口而出:
3 I4 K: Y/ g% M3 ]
, l, ?6 P U! P( s! cHow to spell your last name?
6 }1 p3 ?- S( B% ^! k( |
- F# Z4 y/ O( w% |* H7 g: ]其实这种错误不光是中国同学特有的。亚非拉的同学很多都这么说。从语法的角度说,how to spell your last name ... $ H3 G _3 K. |: G, x
) h% F2 `! d8 U
"how to..." is a phrase. Therefore it can't be used as a sentence like " How do you...; Since it is a phrase, it can be used as TITLE--you can use a word, a phrase or a sentence as a title. Same reason "how to..." can also be used as part of a sentence: " I am not sure how to spell your first name."+ R) ~" D1 y0 s/ X# H

"Long time no see" is from old English.' h& d6 y+ R4 |( i, W2 k- q0 P0 _

"No problem" is short form for " I have no problem..." "There is no problem ..." so when used in answering something, it is simply expressed as "No problem". |
