The city of Edmonton evidently thinks Albertans are so enamoured of tax increases now that the NDP is in charge that it has proposed increasing property taxes 4.9% a year for each of the next three years.

Mayor Don Iveson insists he runs a lean operation, but the Canadian Federation of Independent Business says spending has increased 74% in the past decade.
