　　North country scene:

　　A hundred leagues locked in ice,

5 h$ ]/ Y0 h0 {- J: M& N　　A thousand leagues of whirling snow.

　　Both sides of the Great Wall

　　One single white immensity.
9 w# K0 y0 C& ^4 C9 p+ V3 v6 R
　　The Yellow River"s swift current

　　Is stilled from end to end.

& o% B1 S% O0 u+ R1 C0 M( p　　The mountains dance like silver snakes
* A1 T1 s* g" ~2 O9 S
　　And the highlands* charge like wax-hued elephants,
0 r1 P% ^7 u$ C' q" t! `9 @
　　Vying with heaven in stature.

　　On a fine day, the land,
4 e& V# W- p- p. P6 K9 ]
　　Clad in white, adorned in red,
; t8 h# N7 f% A* z
　　Grows more enchanting.

2 A9 I+ |; W( f) ^　　This land so rich in beauty

. A. \5 t- C+ B6 J, i$ v' C; i! i　　Has made countless heroes bow in homage.

' N  y4 ]. X, S7 y9 \　　But alas! Chin Shih-huang and Han Wu-ti

　　Were lacking in literary grace,
) O+ h0 {7 K9 l7 u# ~7 y
& H; o% L2 Y& B3 K　　And Tang Tai-tsung and Sung Tai-tsu
% p  R' v  O6 P# x& |
　　Had little poetry in their souls;
　　And Genghis Khan,

　　Proud Son of Heaven for a day,
+ u/ ?# |$ `+ v$ W( f, ]1 }
7 M( x5 W& F/ s$ |　　Knew only shooting eagles, bow outstretched

0 F4 b/ u$ X- p% a# U　　All are past and gone!

0 k" O: W+ j' p" X2 G　　For truly great men

1 W7 x1 A# Y: W　　Look to this age alone.

　　唐宗宋祖 稍逊风骚 一代天骄 成吉思汗 只识弯弓射大雕
