反对C24的都是有双重国籍的人,如台港,印度,欧美来的加拿大人。 对大陆来的只有一个国籍的人如果也反对的话, 那么只能说他喜欢自虐。

! n4 z! m+ l5 a, E- ]( H2 gAs a result, immigration and controversial laws around citizenship are coming up a bit more often on the doors, say candidates.
6 y7 P* D/ Z' O) hConservative candidate Tim Uppal said his party has an excellent record on welcoming newcomers.

~5 A# ?: A' e0 ?9 h“Under this government, we have had the highest levels of sustained immigration in Canadian history,” he said.

Uppal also defends bill C-24, legislation that allows the government to strip citizenship from dual citizens convicted of terrorism or treason. He said when someone has been convicted and served their time of a charge as serious as terrorism it’s common sense to deport them.
# h* R: E! c' ?“If we can have their citizenship stripped, because they’re a dual citizen, than I would rather not have them in this country,” he said.

Liberal candidate Amarjeet Sohi said the Conservative bill is discriminatory, treating Canadians with dual citizenship as unequal.$ D$ Y$ G! ^: W% u0 ?
“It will not make us safe,” he said. “Every Canadian should be treated the same, you can’t have different punishments for the same crime.”1 f; V( p# P0 G- G* O
Sohi said he would prefer convicted terrorist stay within the reach of Canadian law.' d8 B. s% w% J( `' C% @
“If you deport a terrorist to another country, where there may not be any rule of law, where they can create havoc in that country, how does that make the world a safe place?”

“The NDP has a very firm stand. We opposed the changes and we voted against C-24. If we win the election, we will repeal C-24.” |
