EDMONTON — The West Edmonton Mall has reopened after police investigated a suspicious package Tuesday morning.

$ b3 o* z2 c) Z/ |) F: [5 l8 `The item, which turned out to be a DVD player, was reported to police just after 8:30 a.m. and officers swooped in to shut down entrances to the shopping centre.

9 _. y4 C5 b1 H, d2 F4 b( g2 R1 K sPolice evacuated the mall, and a short time later determined the package was merely a DVD player left on a bench outside the SportCheck store./ I% a* ]5 i y
9 {: k1 a9 ~* G) m# U# L7 @"I think we made a very measured response and dealt with the safely issues appropriately," said Staff Sgt. Steve Jones. "We just contained an area within the mall."
