not do any of the following:7 S1 l* M4 H( [) v @8 G
(a) drive a motor vehicle on a highway unless the motor
' i! X& o$ O9 J3 t* rvehicle is an insured motor vehicle;
' i9 L- N9 T, O w* A5 C. f# h(b) have a motor vehicle on a highway unless the motor
3 e: |/ M4 v6 L8 N/ B$ r( ?vehicle is an insured motor vehicle;
/ O: `. ^! z3 M( c8 r(c) where a person is the registered owner of a motor vehicle,# f$ [% g' `3 F& U% i# h
permit another person& @' d4 F3 z2 _
(i) to drive the motor vehicle on a highway, or
x1 A2 K/ {2 H(ii) to have the motor vehicle on a highway,/ k4 X/ } F$ Z4 Z. P
unless the motor vehicle is an insured motor vehicle;
. C# k- j9 h) m7 X. @. T0 m0 h(d) give or lend a financial
4 d4 C0 x' `% ?5 ~% }responsibility card or a copy of it5 \2 b8 |) L8 S8 u4 C% n
to a person not entitled to have that financial. Y* r2 Q+ J1 [) B2 f

* h7 y" m" V7 O7 p l6 m3 ~If a person drives or has a motor vehicle on a highway( S' T8 _! q1 @! T: z
without the expressed or implied consent of the registered owner of
2 B. q5 j U* |# Othe vehicle, that person is deemed for the purposes of subsection
2 f" }0 K' f: \( e" R(1)(a) or (b) to drive or have on a highway a motor vehicle that is
3 m% B2 |6 X+ x0 Q. }not an insured motor vehicle.

Act, the motor vehicle is still registered for the purposes of this

Subsection (1)(a) and (b) do not apply to a person to whom a6 S, t4 k! e: A2 z. X# v" p4 R+ }
financial responsibility card has been issued pursuant to the
b- {3 |4 a r6 v" Y `; `- ~ WInsurance Act. G8 H0 V8 g% s' H6 G |
by an insurer who has issued an owner’s policy
; e& x$ S2 G" L* w1 E; Boutside Alberta.9 t: z# I% T3 e
(4)0 \) K8 k4 i8 T+ Z# l
A person, other than a corporation, who contravenes subsection
- W8 _* _/ K+ j% P+ Q* K(1) or section 52(1)(h) or 167(8) is liable,
5 k0 h+ x+ p, o- F1 i/ Q+ ](a) for the first contravention, to a fine of not less than $2500
& C- z) \' ^5 K7 e. Y0 y( ?and not more than $10 000 and in default of payment to
- x) N4 Q$ f) Eimprisonment for a term of not less than 45 days and not
, I5 O4 |: U5 s! ~, O& \more than 6 months

Minimum $2500, if you don't pay, you will go to jail for a minimum of 45 days. |
