% r/ O" E# j# j& p/ T2 i
6 c* [; P% `; S" Z. w
        1. I couldn't care less.
2 B# K: K9 f3 p  }4 l3 b8 ~4 G$ o$ f% a3 q' T6 y4 L( D
I don''t care at all. 或 I don''t give a hoot. 例如:
' o1 ]# U" W7 |, E5 C" [0 }6 h9 I2 Y4 `; Q
What do you think of the budget-cut?(你对预算削减有何看法?) 5 e. V9 J6 |4 y8 e

9 p/ A9 l7 X/ J- s: `  u7 H: h8 f 你回答: I couldn't care less.(我毫不在乎) 7 O  }4 u& [0 \, `/ I5 A

/ i2 ], m) t; X. Q! e, @) ^2 g How do you like Mr. Lee's political point of view?(你喜欢李先生的政见吗?) * N8 v" E& O& C- }% ~

0 _+ g  |7 Y$ [$ K1 L I couldn't care less.(我才不在乎呢!)
7 W4 M6 a  r' |, X& M. j4 b4 E- H8 |7 b1 L

: [% S! x6 T, U; L I couldn't care less about the promotion or pay raise.(我不在乎升级或加薪) - k  K: R0 {5 A! T6 @) Y6 `) U( m
, b! F/ s0 x; T' X" ^( }' t+ K
Yes, you do(care). " V" i6 p5 ?! k: j
, n: N& d; _& C- J6 |
I couldn't care more. 就是“我很在乎”(I care a lot.)或 I care deeply. 同理:
) w! o) X5 _* q# n% D+ |3 X1 }  F0 g8 j
  I couldn't agree more.=I totally agree.(我完全同意) 9 y7 ^7 k) K  n7 [
; M4 k! a) c1 R# l7 V* \
  I couldn't please you more.=I did my best to please you.(我尽量使你高兴) ! n/ K5 i" x/ ?

8 y3 U; @8 p) @6 v0 z( T3 }) @; s I couldn't be more right.=I am totally right.
3 X  u2 d/ i3 S- o9 r/ B) h0 Z5 y/ T; N/ Q6 X5 }7 }1 v6 N3 E: `" `: o4 E
. L% T5 ?7 \1 a/ C/ Q# ?% G3 v
1 V9 A' H) g: c0 Y& ]3 e, K I couldn't be more wrong.
1 v- g; ^, A1 G( C& n5 G3 j1 M' Q2 y' u2 p+ E3 Q7 D" ^
I could care less. = I care to some degree.(care 的程度可能减少) 7 ^7 ^0 i/ v8 _" ^7 T
4 u0 L& ?3 l9 R: ~/ @
  I could care more.=I care some.(care的程度也许增加)(主词可用任何人称代名词:he, she, you, we, they 等。但只用 could,不用 can。) 3 c8 r7 W( W7 D9 }2 q) t$ k" A3 U

1 j% F' `( t6 I. a! P0 U 2. No bones about it.
% k" }6 }  [: \/ P) D3 c) R+ F3 E7 C, i: L5 b) X3 ~/ S
  意思是:真实的,诚恳的(truly, sincerely or exactly),也就是 to make no bones about it.(bone 要加 s, it 是指 something)例如: ( d5 S! ~- @. _0 n/ f
2 S( @1 I! u( T, t0 Y! l
  His wife is beautiful;no bones about it.(他的太太真是很漂亮) ( ^1 v( G: U4 N% H4 g
' v0 S- c4 v5 @2 e- J2 S. F3 H: {
Mr. A made no bones about it when he talked about abortion issue.(当 A 先生谈到堕胎问题时,他是诚恳的。)
: {. ]( E! i( S- l) P: q6 S) [2 O4 D) e' }2 O- ~9 B
  When I spoke on the topic,he said, "No bones about it."(也就是他同意我的看法) 6 q" b3 ]- Q( ]( u/ D
4 |1 j, i& d% i6 o3 D
  No bones about it;the weather is very chilly today.(今天是真的太冷了) + G$ G( `% _2 Y1 v( k

: h9 f' W5 b# l9 P* h  M 3. take it on me!
' f( r9 o9 _. @0 c3 j( F
; O/ _( ]8 n5 [8 y. ` 意思是:“这是我的,请用吧!”“这是免费的”(help yourself to it; it is free),这多半是指吃的东西或一些不贵重的东西。例如:
$ _+ p/ ^! G" C+ @
; B7 c. w! M$ Z) j Here are some candies from England; take one on me. (这是来自英国的糖果,尝一个吧!) (one = candy)
' V) ?+ S! Q9 E  k. ?
: n7 {/ z# _+ c8 i; m The restaurant owner said to me, "Take the dessert on me." ) E5 e4 R* K' ?, f

4 Z3 l, e# k5 |6 G  O Please take these pencils on me.(取用一些我的铅笔吧!)
% J' ]/ }3 ]- ^+ P& ]
) g7 f; h4 c& |% V (假如夫妇在一起,也可以说:Take it on us.)
) e# n: q8 K) I( Y/ h8 r, h6 V# P% A9 ?0 G0 e. U% B+ V; x
  4. I am from Missouri. 7 z" ?7 J) l+ B5 ?

4 h. |3 h% T& [& I% Z9 `+ f 这句话有时后面要加一句:“I need to be shown.”或“You have got to show me.”,意思是 Missouri 州的人很固执 (stubborn),不太信任别人,一定要人家证明一下(prove it to me),所以密苏里州也被称为“The Show Me State”。
5 n( ~7 A$ w% f' a: p& T. O
1 \- w. q" i% N8 l: B
  He is not easily convinced because he is from Missouri. ' i4 z5 j" R1 l) d# K9 R

  W) A, J! y" z- @8 @5 D$ l Don''t try to fool me; I am from Missouri.(You have got to show me.) (别愚弄我,我是来自密苏里州。) . F$ v! f( n* m; T  [. F0 b$ J% O

8 G' Q6 K8 d  q1 N( a We are all from Missouri; we need to be shown.
# E7 a- O, r; G) T) e& ?8 q& L9 @+ b0 x% k7 o7 B! c
As Mr. Smith is a tough guy; he must be from Missouri. (Smith
