Responsibilities and Tasks6 q; d- K1 n: {5 P8 X
0 M* w0 l) X4 Y2 U S( T1 g
- Connect piping systems to water mains, supply tanks, pumps, compressors and control equipment & Y4 A9 n2 c( g7 j E9 M& S' E
- Read and interpret drawings, blueprints and specifications furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form to determine layout requirements
5 [9 e9 \7 I; J" _/ s4 S' u* p- Cut openings for pipe in walls, floors and ceilings using hand or power tools or machines
8 [; s5 u) } x+ ~- Select type and size of pipe required- G$ f( R, j* _: I( b F
- Measure, cut, thread and bend pipe to required shape using hand and power tools
h I3 Q6 S# e4 n+ C4 B- Weld, braze, cement, solder and thread joints to join pipes and fabricate sections of piping system; i, O; P' G5 R7 a% J5 J7 j
- Install supports, valves, piping and control systems

- Clean and maintain pipe units and fittings and flush system$ [1 y7 _" g/ J3 u
- Remove and replace worn components and reactivate system

# y1 [ F! E1 _ L ~3 E, |- Other tasks related to pipefitting as may be required during the course of business

: f3 V' l" w2 T) z" x- Completion of secondary school( l( ^/ N/ ^. z# E' m% L
- Completion of formal Apprenticeship Program of four- to five-years or a combination of over five years of work experience in the trade and some high school, college or industry courses in pipefitting system installation
1 m8 ]0 _ P8 c( n# {/ }- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
3 x# N1 h/ P; t3 C- _* | I- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
2 s+ u: n! g7 V/ A$ j, I) \- Pipefitter trade certification is considered an asset2 S2 Q5 j5 s4 U1 M
- Safety tickets are considered an asset
