Responsibilities and Tasks: I) t8 W5 q% m3 E; |& [5 v0 D! C
1 N. x. E+ ]- r/ f0 D1 E* M% T3 ?
- Connect piping systems to water mains, supply tanks, pumps, compressors and control equipment - R: i4 ~# @- r5 F5 c
- Read and interpret drawings, blueprints and specifications furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form to determine layout requirements
- t" O9 W% I* X% `. d% B6 e- Cut openings for pipe in walls, floors and ceilings using hand or power tools or machines" m1 C& ?* o. E R
- Select type and size of pipe required
3 J0 x* O9 }3 ?" e- Measure, cut, thread and bend pipe to required shape using hand and power tools
# ?, e" B+ F9 p" w$ z- Weld, braze, cement, solder and thread joints to join pipes and fabricate sections of piping system4 _+ f, {+ B4 d" Z( m3 b3 _" J
- Install supports, valves, piping and control systems5 y% @" g5 w7 J4 O9 M/ O
- Test system for leaks using testing equipment7 E% p* Z2 O; j
- Clean and maintain pipe units and fittings and flush system
4 U1 p m/ j4 ~; v- Remove and replace worn components and reactivate system

- Other tasks related to pipefitting as may be required during the course of business

- Completion of secondary school
1 g9 v! ~- @$ [% ]- Completion of formal Apprenticeship Program of four- to five-years or a combination of over five years of work experience in the trade and some high school, college or industry courses in pipefitting system installation
1 c( t% \8 Y( w, L; ]- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
" f- c6 _3 x; ~' _7 l- G5 B- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence, G9 m9 I- k4 Y0 }4 S1 |7 ?8 T4 U
- Pipefitter trade certification is considered an asset) c! e" {" I& K9 W
- Safety tickets are considered an asset
