Speed and power, without compromise. That’s how I’d sum up my impression

megapixels, the D800 produces unprecedented image quality and resolution' p6 X+ V+ N$ h; I
within a body that boasts revolutionary technological advances. The 3D color
) ]5 X! s: o( Y+ v, Omatrix metering III, wide dynamic range and the improved AF performance6 V2 `" Z/ ~- [0 P4 S1 D! {- x
in low light are just a few features that are glaring improvements. The D8004 }5 e5 \3 C2 R- N+ b% ?3 }- |
allows me to concentrate on the light, the composition and my subject
\! p j/ O4 J+ X5 dwithout having to think about much else. In years past, wedding photography
) G0 g( ^0 d! M6 G+ S. v# wwas traditionally captured with medium-format equipment for maximum/ B" V7 m4 _8 S$ t3 d
image quality. When the 35mm format was adopted within the genre, it was* r8 J% m* |) n) |# b6 v H/ {
widely accepted that image quality was compromised in lieu of speed and
, Y2 r1 [: S4 qconvenience. Now, my wedding portraiture will have a depth it’s never shown% z* O0 r# e3 A, g4 z* r
before, and my style of shooting will be enhanced rather than compromised, E, a8 t% K4 F5 ^5 m+ ^
thanks to the D800.
0 T1 f& C' \( f! [1 k7 ^When I’m shooting beauty and jewelry in the studio or fashion on location,
% c8 C$ T9 T ?36.3 megapixels changes the industry standard: in image quality, dynamic
/ x% ?7 W6 Q$ \0 z( J( nrange, color rendering and the final print. The detail from the D800 produces! \) v Y( x& A4 n' X6 g
the look of a medium-format camera, but gives me the feel and response of a
( i9 y {# e( F" D2 ED-SLR. The improvements in rendering skin tone and specular highlights, as
# u4 ^$ G/ q$ g% B# |9 Y1 j, Jwell as fabric and hair detail are superior to anything that has come before.
] J4 L+ p# m! ?6 P" ^6 qAutofocus quickly tracks models in motion. Nikon’s 91K-pixel RGB sensor& x- Q; A% b4 s0 n. f
has noticeable improvements in metering accuracy, while the larger LCD is8 N. b( z; [' T! }" r# l
easier to read. The camera body feels solid and ergonomically simple, while
% U6 e4 v6 l6 Yalso feeling lighter and smaller than previous high-resolution Nikons. New- v2 |/ W! t+ L$ y+ W
cameras always inspire me to test and explore, and all the useful features
2 x; {' K* G; @# l) Uin such a compact package will open huge creative possibilities for my highquality" ^/ d+ A5 k$ q0 x% K9 }9 ~2 c
prints and video.
- K i! U# R2 L! |; qTo me, cameras are more like paintbrushes than technology. The goal is
& w8 s: v0 N Z$ J; }4 Xnot megapixels or technique but the image, and while camera models, n) T8 G% q) h) x4 i E
are important, they are not the be-all or end-all. But after a lifetime using
[2 Z5 O% h7 g1 x7 j) s$ Scountless cameras, I have found a new best friend. It was not love at first
" _8 Z( H) l; ksight. The sharpness and detail were initially intimidating, exposing my flaws. }% j6 j) c/ z v$ ^
like never before. Subtle camera movements showed and differences of6 o- q5 R! x" F( i2 A2 `# N
acuity between aperture choices on various lenses were apparent. But now I) p+ O/ ~) [1 _- X/ H7 ]
am enthralled with this technology. Why? Because the images almost feel as! {5 j1 o5 e9 J
though they were made with a 4x5 view camera! Special features like timelapse; M9 X4 j2 w5 h) ^! Q. S
photography and the improved HD video quality and flexibility also add
' z% U. s1 h: B% }tremendously to the camera’s personality. After spending a month with the& I' a# p! F U7 j. `8 u
D800, I’ll never be the same again. Perhaps the best compliment I can express

and easy focusing in dim lighting, which simplifies my workflow. Superior

architectural photography. From my hands-on experience I found that they
/ k& [$ K) a+ ^8 A) L v3 Z2 vperfectly match with the newly invented system and produce breathtakingly# e* V9 Z+ w* V% l6 p
clean, clear and sharp files. This camera gives me the photographic flexibility" k4 {8 N- m: h
to work at unusual shooting locations and capture images in an exceptional9 X$ @ C# K$ n
range of light. It definitely takes my photographic versatility and image quality
