megapixels, the D800 produces unprecedented image quality and resolution

matrix metering III, wide dynamic range and the improved AF performance
: o9 m6 _ _9 jin low light are just a few features that are glaring improvements. The D800
1 H: L% |: O, M! v' `7 vallows me to concentrate on the light, the composition and my subject( V* o2 z7 }* P, `. i9 Y# \
without having to think about much else. In years past, wedding photography2 L/ u" Y, s# y
was traditionally captured with medium-format equipment for maximum
& w& d, ^6 }8 Q" O- s0 q0 g0 f. wimage quality. When the 35mm format was adopted within the genre, it was
4 F' s) W; v% R9 @5 awidely accepted that image quality was compromised in lieu of speed and1 v0 K3 k* V0 ^, m
convenience. Now, my wedding portraiture will have a depth it’s never shown
. w9 u' `0 z- }: H; {9 Fbefore, and my style of shooting will be enhanced rather than compromised,# m; i/ }: n9 {+ f) [4 S; g

When I’m shooting beauty and jewelry in the studio or fashion on location,
* b' q* H6 Z' b! Y X* s& [& ^36.3 megapixels changes the industry standard: in image quality, dynamic
4 h9 H! u! P$ I+ ~% }6 crange, color rendering and the final print. The detail from the D800 produces
; Z$ N8 q ?$ n% `the look of a medium-format camera, but gives me the feel and response of a7 i T8 s `3 y
D-SLR. The improvements in rendering skin tone and specular highlights, as; K) d2 \& d* @; k$ l7 d
well as fabric and hair detail are superior to anything that has come before.
- `# d3 |# i# L" k0 n1 w* b: xAutofocus quickly tracks models in motion. Nikon’s 91K-pixel RGB sensor" d, A. E/ t% n; i* A' t! S, J
has noticeable improvements in metering accuracy, while the larger LCD is' N) O7 B1 c9 B
easier to read. The camera body feels solid and ergonomically simple, while* ~ z% v8 J( q, a; [/ f
also feeling lighter and smaller than previous high-resolution Nikons. New7 g2 m/ I0 L$ ?+ {7 }. d
cameras always inspire me to test and explore, and all the useful features9 D- v% L, {' ^$ N( R8 Z* B4 v" c
in such a compact package will open huge creative possibilities for my highquality
* K9 \# h4 S7 ~6 |prints and video.! B' r6 x! X, q) c( A% r( A$ e
To me, cameras are more like paintbrushes than technology. The goal is' N0 |# Y5 M6 b* V7 G0 T
not megapixels or technique but the image, and while camera models
4 ?! R r( b) J0 z C3 Iare important, they are not the be-all or end-all. But after a lifetime using2 w$ Q3 M* |* x2 N0 A
countless cameras, I have found a new best friend. It was not love at first
7 t& {4 G% ?$ t& xsight. The sharpness and detail were initially intimidating, exposing my flaws
/ s3 H$ l) S. T3 N& @: w. rlike never before. Subtle camera movements showed and differences of
" @ h& T# s; q/ q* _% aacuity between aperture choices on various lenses were apparent. But now I
8 R7 ^+ R! B" g% e' w1 Uam enthralled with this technology. Why? Because the images almost feel as$ C2 [: T. O9 y
though they were made with a 4x5 view camera! Special features like timelapse
( R6 E. s @# A5 T: f7 wphotography and the improved HD video quality and flexibility also add
) S; M' s. I3 S4 n/ a0 \/ jtremendously to the camera’s personality. After spending a month with the2 E V3 y- q4 `) Q1 a! H( `& p2 T4 A
D800, I’ll never be the same again. Perhaps the best compliment I can express. ~9 b) Y8 P3 `: A
is that now I will think differently about the images I make.

% p5 n4 u9 D6 ]( N9 Mcompact and reliable camera system fulfilling the requirements of my personal
7 w2 G9 G: O5 ?! Y: R9 Cartistic and client expectations. The Nikon D800 will set new standards for
7 Y5 f# m* g+ B; Ythe high-end 35mm D-SLR market. I have never worked with a 35mm digital$ ~- J _% L# ]

now. Particularly, the live view mode enables extremely precise compositions3 | e' ~$ _9 A0 n1 A
and easy focusing in dim lighting, which simplifies my workflow. Superior" _4 J V, p' l$ n7 x
quality lenses such as the PC NIKKOR tilt & shift lineup are indispensable for

perfectly match with the newly invented system and produce breathtakingly
