Job Description:
J" A5 Q1 z- }8 @' M _5 l1 k• Review damage report and estimates of repair cost and plan work to be performed
/ A- o& H# g1 s1 {1 S1 B8 b* N• Repair and replace front end components, body components, doors and frame and underbody components" x% k; A7 Z. e/ W" ?. o
• Hammer out dents, buckles and other defects using blocks and hammers: }/ C! [. u! I
• Operate soldering equipment or use plastic filler to fill holes, dents and seams4 h+ q2 ^( B. D% {, k9 Z
• Remove damaged fenders, panels and grills using wrenches and cutting torch and bolt or weld replacement parts into place1 O9 H! e& i: k- F0 G
• Straighten bent frames using frame and underbody pulling and anchoring equipment: k8 s) A Y4 _/ g
• File, grind and sand repaired body surfaces using hand and power tools
9 G% `- S" y, w# Z% N• Mask and tape auto body surfaces in preparation for painting% P1 d1 H& d# \$ c- g0 ?
• Mix paint, blend and match colors S" M v' B: C) o) a
• Apply primers and repaint surfaces using brush or spray guns
4 j! r2 o, m. g: j1 O* D, f• Repair and replace glass components such as windshields, windows and sunroofs
+ Z8 \' a* }4 I' P8 b0 @• Repair or replace interior components, such as seat frame assembly, carpets and floorboard insulation7 _* ?! b% r6 z$ [0 g& r' s
• Inspect repaired vehicles and test drive vehicles for proper handling, K* M+ c, n$ h1 y
Education and Experience Requirements:
# q( p/ d5 h' H. x• Completion of secondary school is required
( q4 m; |0 t3 w• Completion of a three- to four-year motor vehicle body repair apprenticeship program & B" b7 B# c1 X4 V
or
# E2 b+ @: H- `, c' U) }A combination of over three years of work experience in the motor vehicle body repair trade
. i( H8 ^" I; \, e• Alberta Trade certification for motor vehicle body repair (metal and paint) is compulsory 7 j( D$ v( ?5 M( Q% I* `
