4 {. W$ Z' l8 s1 u2 V% Q# XYOUCAN is an acronym that stands for Youth Organizing to Understand Conflict and
Advocate Non-Violence. YOUCAN has served youth in the Edmonton area for the past
" p& d; n' q  \' Ynine years and our mission is to equip youth to engage and inspire others to
peacefully resolve conflicts and develop healthy relationships in their communities.
The YOUCAN VERTO Project is a Government of Canada and Government of Albertafunded

project that will bring at-risk youth together into a unique 15 -week groupbased
employability skills program entitled “The VERTO Project”.
  c; t5 T4 s: `$ {( uThe goal of the VERTO Program is to assist participants in obtaining and maintaining
  Q4 Z7 Z  C5 ~) rthe skills necessary to bring success into their lives. Verto program will expose
4 w+ k4 O, m0 v% d, F8 B: yparticipants to a wide range of components focusing on: employment development,
8 K% }  T& ~# m/ _personal wellness, technology learning, conflict resolution, and exposure courses.
Additionally, we will incorporate topics around health and wellness, volunteerism,
/ m& X8 H$ r6 Aand leadership courses. Verto youth will be provided with a six-month employment
follow-up once the program is completed.

# \; I* v2 ]1 v# V  Y3 n% gVerto project will run from 9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday at the
9 L5 K2 o4 z! j4 l( O5 w) NYOUCAN office, located at 11124-130 St. (Westmount Jr. High School) in Edmonton, Alberta.
