Financial Literacy Trainer / Coordinator

In 2008, SEDI founded the Canadian Centre for Financial Literacy (CCFL) which is a national network dedicated to supporting financial literacy capacity building and knowledge mobilization. It acts as a national ‘hub’ for financial literacy in Canada.

SEDI is hiring an in-house financial literacy trainer/coordinator who will help build financial literacy programs across Canada.
( \8 H8 E1 H9 W) f- vSEDI is staffed to:
4 N, ^5 }. @, @" [ z, R+ y( Q• conduct socio-economic market and policy research
% z6 J) X3 X( x4 Y0 w• act as a knowledge broker between communities and policy makers, and influence public policies that affect low income earners
3 T' H) p: V8 A( N• develop socio-economic programs and manage their implementation 5 G8 h' [- m% B5 u* W* ?# g! i
• partner with other nonprofits across Canada to deliver programs 2 x- m4 m1 B0 D5 x- H4 I4 Z& j0 D' T
• provide training and capacity building to frontline nonprofits

• to work to reduce economic vulnerability in Canada

• Facilitation of forums and training of trainers sessions (basic financial literacy) with staff at partner community organizations across Canada . Z. X0 c6 n" k! Z& I4 c
• Assistance in the development and design of financial literacy tools (ie- curriculum, videos etc)
% H9 x) q8 }$ k8 h+ {- R• Coordination of activities and communication with delivery sites of the CCFL as required
6 J$ h0 A8 {3 f& ]! {) m• Working with the website and communications teams on CCFL communications activities 8 z0 i3 E6 w8 L a/ M3 W# J* P2 Y
• Working with evaluation and management information systems team
4 A+ ?, {4 r- T7 e4 @• Other CCFL duties (reporting, evaluation, communications) as required K! o5 g& M) t2 A' K
Other Activities:
& R! X' B8 K/ r& G5 T @5 D• Providing support to implement research and evaluation activities, solve implementation challenges, and fine-tune strategies
& y; @+ m0 |- b% A+ P" t; ]• Organizing and monitoring the collection of all evaluation forms, surveys, and reports from project partners
% O. f( u: y5 B- @7 I• Working with in-house Management Information System staff to facilitate data input, analysis and reporting * `4 Y3 B& W* u; _% @9 l
• Writing and editing of research and evaluation reports, project reports and internal progress reports
5 x; s8 K3 D9 a! o• Participating in the development of Internet-based strategies for sharing findings/effective practices and for promoting learning

' s, |2 U {8 o2 x& O, g+ L• Demonstrated group facilitation experience R: u" a7 g6 |! v; S
• Strong communication and public speaking skills; including comfortable with new technology and social media
: J% {9 o7 c, h# _- a$ _• Able to travel across Canada to conduct training + x8 G" x6 `6 K1 U0 a# S! E
• Entrepreneurial spirit, can proactively identify prospective opportunities 2 l. P; M/ R% f4 k
• Highly motivated self-starter with team orientation; ability to build committed and collaborative teams % M2 R! [5 v9 ^1 E- y/ N
• Passion, enthusiasm and deep commitment to the SEDI mission, vision, values and goals % a' K) m! g- _! i, r
• Demonstrated understanding of basic financial literacy concepts
& M/ i* B3 ~8 P$ l0 D5 u9 Q% Y$ b• Experience in working with economically vulnerable Canadians and the organizations that serve them ' q; f7 {9 F; x, B( l
• Experience working directly with community organizations that serve segments of the population such as: youth, seniors, women, aboriginal peoples, newcomers to Canada etc * J' g& t- @' ~/ S" X8 e6 ^& N
• Experience in ‘training of trainers’ activities or education

• Computer skills: Word, ACCESS, Power Point etc. $ b( j/ z* I) s# i$ @ @
• Ability in French (both written and oral) is an asset . n, G/ C4 B2 X _0 g
• Policy research skill set is an asset , t( G5 }4 z$ [' {7 ~( \
• Marketing and communication experience an asset / U5 A, c i% z7 [6 F
• Program evaluation experience an asset
