you should always remove the old top layer for a number of reasons. 6 U, I+ H8 y/ S* _! h3 x
1, it is possible to grow mould underneath the new top layer if you don't remove the old top layer/ Z, q$ l# ^4 ?
2, it's very difficult to lay it evenly flat all across9 ^5 ~7 m$ z6 S2 D$ S( F0 {
3, it's very hard to anchor it down with the baseboards, etc% |. h' F& H5 T1 O" x; ~' T9 l! ^
7 G9 Y$ u% j7 u, @the old under layer can be removed or you can leave it in depanding on its condition. if you want to remove it, it's a lot of physical labour work.. C0 N0 z0 k& N r% y3 L* `6 Y8 o
: e' R, j7 f2 f) C; l P9 ninstalling the new carpet is very easy, but again it's a lot of physical labour. carpets are a lot heavier than most people think. plus, you'll need to do your own measurements, cutting, transportation of new/old material, etc.& Q) D0 g" |$ J
' A" r1 M; w( e4 R: g5 m1 \end of roll usually have good deals on material and labour to install carpets. give them a call to see if they can swing you a deal. depand on the size of your room and the grade of the carpet you're looking for, I'm guessing you can get away with less than $750 all in.
