Position: Outreach Worker

Job Description
- promote the Centre’s ISP to community organizations, businesses, educational institutions, etc. by in-person presentations, phone or sending relevant information
- promote ISP in various media: newspaper, radio, newsletter, etc.
-  develop or update brochures, pamphlets, information packages, etc. for ISP
& r" U4 E# B: v6 m' p2 `- provide support to ISP staff
- recruit new members to the Newcomers Club and maintain existing members
' m) {6 y, \  Z* H8 ?3 x+ u% J- promote, organize and coordinate the Newcomers Club’s activities
- outreach in different areas of the city where new immigrants are concentrated
- U8 G4 ^: v8 n/ E- attend meetings relevant to ISP and outreach work to advocate issues and concerns of new immigrants
+ A& M" h; z$ A$ X' Y- H% g6 n- adapt to a flexible working schedule to accommodate the program’s goals
- fulfill the goals and objectives of ISP as contracted by funder
/ H( i) J' ]* L! i7 T- report writing, data collection, conduct evaluations, budget management, etc.
- recruit and coordinate volunteers to assist with outreach activities
& [* [; ^: R' T; z0 D& x$ E- assist with front counter services as needed and assigned
6 u  G% G  J: K- other duties as assigned

Qualifications
# z& ^+ q2 F$ g9 r. o- degree/diploma in social work/human services and eligibility to be registered to area of discipline; relevant experience with community services/projects/immigrants will be considered
- knowledge of immigrant issues and concerns, community resources and services available
/ O6 R" i) {7 q7 ^- experience in working with community groups and community liaison workers
- good computer skills using Microsoft and Chinese software
! }$ J9 k4 E3 F5 J. V8 {# x5 H. [/ n- speak & write Chinese (fluent in Mandarin preferred)
- good interpersonal and people skills
% G5 h9 y+ x1 p, R- good organizational and coordination skills
- valid driver’s license

Salary
- $12/hr for 17.5hours/week, April 18 to March 31, 2007
