Alberta College is governed by an independent Board of Governors 5 v$ f* s# H! y% |
drawn from a wide cross-section of the community. Established in
; r. f1 ^# Z! b9 H1903, Alberta College predates both the City of Edmonton and the 0 _6 Z, P4 q; ?* Y4 a
Province of Alberta. It was founded by concerned citizens as the
1 h7 G- X& N, f+ Y. Y, ifirst post-secondary school in the area, on land bequeathed by
4 F! Y$ p6 }8 p( Y7 r1 O, I3 Kpioneer George McDougall for educational purposes. The College
5 h5 L2 }3 ` c z6 Vinitially had three departments: academics, commerce and music,

transfer to McGill University.
