Responsibilities
, a& z& X+ Q2 r1 u  m6 Z+ Y2 u Complete comprehensive intake and needs assessment process and develop referral and case plans to support newcomers in fully settling and participating in the community  
$ ]3 N9 I" }  t8 Y# [% a# S# T Continue to follow-up with newcomers, EMCN staff and other service providers to ensure newcomers’ needs are met     
 Provide holistic counselling to individuals and families, including hands-on support with accessing resources and resolving difficult issues
 Advocate on newcomers’ behalf to programs, institutions and service providers
, J3 `+ S5 E) O& `' _ Research and maintain current information about programs and resources available in the community
 Develop and maintain ongoing relationships with staff of programs and services in the city and ensure EMCN clients access the most appropriate solutions to meet their needs
- p' J$ w$ I% f& g# r) } Work as a team with EMCN staff to ensure holistic supports are provided to newcomers.

 Social work degree or diploma
6 D6 j4 u6 `, t! j% c Current RSW designation preferred   
2 [+ J) U5 U1 H* E% |3 j+ p0 X Demonstrated experience with holistic case management and supportive counselling
 Knowledge of and experience in accessing a wide range of programs, services and supports available in the City  
: h/ `) V0 B: Z6 S& k0 s! q8 M Ability to effectively listen, assess needs and guide people in a supportive manner
 Sensitivity to cross-cultural issues
, ~% }# ^$ O6 z4 ]6 f Excellent communication, organizational and interpersonal skills
1 x6 x& e( ?) \4 R5 b9 g Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
 Ability to perform variety of diverse tasks under time pressure.

EMCN is a community agency that provides a wide range of services to immigrants and refugees. Further information is available at www.emcn.ab.ca.  Salary for the position begins at $34 879. A cost-shared benefits plan, including RRSP, is available.
