Responsibilities
 Complete comprehensive intake and needs assessment process and develop referral and case plans to support newcomers in fully settling and participating in the community  
# a6 t) u( R# \9 c8 a) b Continue to follow-up with newcomers, EMCN staff and other service providers to ensure newcomers’ needs are met     
5 ?/ E+ G/ M1 \ Provide holistic counselling to individuals and families, including hands-on support with accessing resources and resolving difficult issues
% z+ E! c7 s4 E" w6 [ Advocate on newcomers’ behalf to programs, institutions and service providers
 Research and maintain current information about programs and resources available in the community
 Develop and maintain ongoing relationships with staff of programs and services in the city and ensure EMCN clients access the most appropriate solutions to meet their needs
 Work as a team with EMCN staff to ensure holistic supports are provided to newcomers.

Qualifications
/ O' f# _1 Z/ U4 X0 e* j Social work degree or diploma
" @: ]: d5 q+ p  N Current RSW designation preferred   
! @/ p, D* c- r0 ?# m Demonstrated experience with holistic case management and supportive counselling
. j5 q. J$ t. k; n Knowledge of and experience in accessing a wide range of programs, services and supports available in the City  
: ?$ U6 }7 V( P7 j Ability to effectively listen, assess needs and guide people in a supportive manner
 Sensitivity to cross-cultural issues
8 F" m3 {/ n: t' `  k3 L9 E Excellent communication, organizational and interpersonal skills
, N& K" @, d9 c% H# B5 b Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
 Ability to perform variety of diverse tasks under time pressure.


EMCN is a community agency that provides a wide range of services to immigrants and refugees. Further information is available at www.emcn.ab.ca.  Salary for the position begins at $34 879. A cost-shared benefits plan, including RRSP, is available.
