FUNCTION:
As a member of the Business and Data Architecture team, the Data Architect/Business Intelligence Architect is responsible for the overall design and architecture of the company’s enterprise data, business intelligence systems, reporting solutions and ETL processes.

( X- }9 n! y2 z& g7 jDUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Develop and maintain data models, data architecture, data management standards and conventions, data element naming standards and metadata standards.
8 N' y# l, {7 `3 f! g/ C5 e• Provide guidance and consultation to individuals and groups to ensure on-going projects are in alignment with the corporate data architecture.
( O3 \+ z" A3 o6 ^1 p# m7 j8 S: B5 i• Designing stable and high performance application solutions with complex requirements and demanding specifications.

• Participates in defining the BI roadmap for Alberta Blue Cross.
• Participates in designing and developing the architecture for all business intelligence solutions.  
• Contributes to the design of business intelligence application solutions including database design, ETL, report design and analytics integration.
• Leads BI analysis and design activities.
: r! O) _! x. i( p- _• Defines processes to move BI services into development, test, and production environments

& r6 j5 G' L$ K" b& t8 ]0 J• Documentation and presentation of business requirements for a variety of audiences including clients, executives, project managers, end users and technical designers and developers.
• Defines the BI standards and guidelines.

% e0 F+ o; F! o0 t9 W: JSKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:
1 O6 k/ [) r8 w* }  A• A Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Computer Science or related technical discipline.
• 10+ years experience in data management and designing/developing and implementing Business Intelligence solutions.
& ]8 m1 c& m! ]' y: B+ V- a• Expert level understanding of relational database concepts, dimensional database concepts and database architecture and design.
• Knowledge and experience in development of operational data stores, data mart and data warehouse architectures.
• Experience in designing data models to support OLTP and BI solutions with (ODS’s, data marts, and data warehouses).
• Knowledge and experience with industry standard ETL and standard reporting tools.
• Exceptional consultation skills are critical, with the ability to convey technical ideas to both technical and non-technical audiences and contribute within a team environment.
• Exemplary interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills are required.
• Exceptional planning, organizational, analytical and problem-solving skills are a must.
• Extensive or considerable experience with Oracle products such as Oracle RDBMS 11G and lower, Designer, Oracle Warehouse Builder, BI publisher, Oracle Reports.
. T5 V+ o/ i8 w2 Y• Experience with Oracle Portal and Application Server (J2EE and Oracle 10gAS) is preferred.
