FUNCTION:
1 i& g5 v3 G( e7 RAs a member of the Business and Data Architecture team, the Data Architect/Business Intelligence Architect is responsible for the overall design and architecture of the company’s enterprise data, business intelligence systems, reporting solutions and ETL processes.

# N+ S; }4 `; d( r7 H2 G; u3 [- cDUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

3 e, X" C6 G9 C• Develop and maintain data models, data architecture, data management standards and conventions, data element naming standards and metadata standards.
• Provide guidance and consultation to individuals and groups to ensure on-going projects are in alignment with the corporate data architecture.
5 k" v1 G- N' `1 y% l$ B• Designing stable and high performance application solutions with complex requirements and demanding specifications.

• Participates in defining the BI roadmap for Alberta Blue Cross.
3 |7 C7 z* [* y$ Z• Participates in designing and developing the architecture for all business intelligence solutions.  
• Contributes to the design of business intelligence application solutions including database design, ETL, report design and analytics integration.
• Leads BI analysis and design activities.
( g5 N0 F8 p7 `4 s• Defines processes to move BI services into development, test, and production environments
• Establishes the BI Meta data strategy.
• Documentation and presentation of business requirements for a variety of audiences including clients, executives, project managers, end users and technical designers and developers.
• Defines the BI standards and guidelines.

2 z9 |4 q' O! USKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:
' a2 M0 x# H- a0 Q9 J• A Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Computer Science or related technical discipline.
• 10+ years experience in data management and designing/developing and implementing Business Intelligence solutions.
3 a9 X7 h! Y; o8 m$ [5 w. M• Expert level understanding of relational database concepts, dimensional database concepts and database architecture and design.
• Knowledge and experience in development of operational data stores, data mart and data warehouse architectures.
0 u9 f$ U" j! `• Experience in designing data models to support OLTP and BI solutions with (ODS’s, data marts, and data warehouses).
9 r4 w& d" G5 a/ L0 v+ t3 O" I- B• Knowledge and experience with industry standard ETL and standard reporting tools.
• Exceptional consultation skills are critical, with the ability to convey technical ideas to both technical and non-technical audiences and contribute within a team environment.
) @0 l8 X8 [$ n• Exemplary interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills are required.
1 A7 Z) G" C- N6 c( m7 d• Exceptional planning, organizational, analytical and problem-solving skills are a must.
• Extensive or considerable experience with Oracle products such as Oracle RDBMS 11G and lower, Designer, Oracle Warehouse Builder, BI publisher, Oracle Reports.
' q& s9 s7 {7 v5 z6 w• Experience with Oracle Portal and Application Server (J2EE and Oracle 10gAS) is preferred.
