FUNCTION:
As a member of the Business and Data Architecture team, the Data Architect/Business Intelligence Architect is responsible for the overall design and architecture of the company’s enterprise data, business intelligence systems, reporting solutions and ETL processes.

; m% H6 \" U* I0 QDUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Enterprise Data
  w$ B8 s, w, {. X  t+ Z# {3 |  z. z• Develop and maintain data models, data architecture, data management standards and conventions, data element naming standards and metadata standards.
  t1 O7 n; k$ @* x8 G  I; m• Provide guidance and consultation to individuals and groups to ensure on-going projects are in alignment with the corporate data architecture.
. X4 M* Z; U% K" s. r& N0 P• Designing stable and high performance application solutions with complex requirements and demanding specifications.
Bi /Reporting/ETL
9 G% P0 k" F' L; b' x& b+ k• Participates in defining the BI roadmap for Alberta Blue Cross.
• Participates in designing and developing the architecture for all business intelligence solutions.  
7 \4 v: n- _! y" q' b. Q8 n• Contributes to the design of business intelligence application solutions including database design, ETL, report design and analytics integration.
• Leads BI analysis and design activities.
• Defines processes to move BI services into development, test, and production environments
0 S$ P' ~2 \) r3 g" b+ k9 }• Establishes the BI Meta data strategy.
! T1 y. Z4 q- \) R* e# p• Documentation and presentation of business requirements for a variety of audiences including clients, executives, project managers, end users and technical designers and developers.

SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:
• A Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Computer Science or related technical discipline.
( k" _3 p, u: g4 ~3 L0 d• 10+ years experience in data management and designing/developing and implementing Business Intelligence solutions.
• Expert level understanding of relational database concepts, dimensional database concepts and database architecture and design.
7 ^  r. \) Z( g6 e# r% _• Knowledge and experience in development of operational data stores, data mart and data warehouse architectures.
5 o1 V% T8 ^& e* @9 v' b- Y• Experience in designing data models to support OLTP and BI solutions with (ODS’s, data marts, and data warehouses).
- a" E, N3 l. I9 N• Knowledge and experience with industry standard ETL and standard reporting tools.
6 g! y: o1 v' \• Exceptional consultation skills are critical, with the ability to convey technical ideas to both technical and non-technical audiences and contribute within a team environment.
- e: V3 M& M, ]• Exemplary interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills are required.
0 s! @- T( d: d% r5 q• Exceptional planning, organizational, analytical and problem-solving skills are a must.
• Extensive or considerable experience with Oracle products such as Oracle RDBMS 11G and lower, Designer, Oracle Warehouse Builder, BI publisher, Oracle Reports.
2 U3 `; ~2 n  |1 e/ }• Experience with Oracle Portal and Application Server (J2EE and Oracle 10gAS) is preferred.
