FUNCTION:
As a member of the Business and Data Architecture team, the Data Architect/Business Intelligence Architect is responsible for the overall design and architecture of the company’s enterprise data, business intelligence systems, reporting solutions and ETL processes.

9 n* t, v" r3 bEnterprise Data
• Develop and maintain data models, data architecture, data management standards and conventions, data element naming standards and metadata standards.
• Provide guidance and consultation to individuals and groups to ensure on-going projects are in alignment with the corporate data architecture.
, @/ }! f1 h) n) F# E' t  s• Designing stable and high performance application solutions with complex requirements and demanding specifications.

/ l4 c* h$ z7 N• Participates in defining the BI roadmap for Alberta Blue Cross.
• Participates in designing and developing the architecture for all business intelligence solutions.  
• Contributes to the design of business intelligence application solutions including database design, ETL, report design and analytics integration.
: @. b# T$ B' M• Leads BI analysis and design activities.
( g7 f; \" y& N' U; n• Defines processes to move BI services into development, test, and production environments
, Y" g  l& s1 R  c: Z' n* t2 t• Establishes the BI Meta data strategy.
$ F" q0 S* L4 c' U1 E; A* R3 j4 D• Documentation and presentation of business requirements for a variety of audiences including clients, executives, project managers, end users and technical designers and developers.
• Defines the BI standards and guidelines.

1 t$ i. u7 Z7 WSKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:
: i0 I+ i# f4 c/ L! }1 n5 b• A Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Computer Science or related technical discipline.
• 10+ years experience in data management and designing/developing and implementing Business Intelligence solutions.
- H: J0 w, x& b, k• Expert level understanding of relational database concepts, dimensional database concepts and database architecture and design.
• Knowledge and experience in development of operational data stores, data mart and data warehouse architectures.
/ V  ^) N. d- n9 W* n9 N" t) C4 l• Experience in designing data models to support OLTP and BI solutions with (ODS’s, data marts, and data warehouses).
• Knowledge and experience with industry standard ETL and standard reporting tools.
• Exceptional consultation skills are critical, with the ability to convey technical ideas to both technical and non-technical audiences and contribute within a team environment.
+ T" q  |5 T) }( |• Exemplary interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills are required.
• Exceptional planning, organizational, analytical and problem-solving skills are a must.
% ~; S1 T1 o& Y0 c# B• Extensive or considerable experience with Oracle products such as Oracle RDBMS 11G and lower, Designer, Oracle Warehouse Builder, BI publisher, Oracle Reports.
• Experience with Oracle Portal and Application Server (J2EE and Oracle 10gAS) is preferred.
