FUNCTION:
4 B' r3 ]0 C! d; f" M. EAs a member of the Business and Data Architecture team, the Data Architect/Business Intelligence Architect is responsible for the overall design and architecture of the company’s enterprise data, business intelligence systems, reporting solutions and ETL processes.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1 s5 W3 ~. y+ Q, y# U• Develop and maintain data models, data architecture, data management standards and conventions, data element naming standards and metadata standards.
* k1 @! B. |5 T; x" r6 Z; E• Provide guidance and consultation to individuals and groups to ensure on-going projects are in alignment with the corporate data architecture.
3 l! V1 w, t. C" w% b/ i2 `• Designing stable and high performance application solutions with complex requirements and demanding specifications.
; B* O. [4 Q1 \3 H2 M. I  U8 `Bi /Reporting/ETL
• Participates in defining the BI roadmap for Alberta Blue Cross.
- p5 A: T, A; C, `• Participates in designing and developing the architecture for all business intelligence solutions.  
• Contributes to the design of business intelligence application solutions including database design, ETL, report design and analytics integration.
• Leads BI analysis and design activities.
9 [. }2 y* g* P1 k- }• Defines processes to move BI services into development, test, and production environments
6 r6 `2 W6 R4 R9 A$ }$ [• Establishes the BI Meta data strategy.
• Documentation and presentation of business requirements for a variety of audiences including clients, executives, project managers, end users and technical designers and developers.
) K- R5 P8 i/ j, p! m* v7 Z9 z• Defines the BI standards and guidelines.

SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:
• A Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Computer Science or related technical discipline.
; n  a) c" m* c; b% z( y1 h• 10+ years experience in data management and designing/developing and implementing Business Intelligence solutions.
• Expert level understanding of relational database concepts, dimensional database concepts and database architecture and design.
• Knowledge and experience in development of operational data stores, data mart and data warehouse architectures.
• Experience in designing data models to support OLTP and BI solutions with (ODS’s, data marts, and data warehouses).
• Knowledge and experience with industry standard ETL and standard reporting tools.
- z5 F' C( O2 f8 X; w& W• Exceptional consultation skills are critical, with the ability to convey technical ideas to both technical and non-technical audiences and contribute within a team environment.
5 X$ `" @4 S& ^7 n: \* |' }5 f• Exemplary interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills are required.
8 I' Z& S7 O8 F• Exceptional planning, organizational, analytical and problem-solving skills are a must.
+ Q* a% U2 w/ N8 Q. e$ X5 F• Extensive or considerable experience with Oracle products such as Oracle RDBMS 11G and lower, Designer, Oracle Warehouse Builder, BI publisher, Oracle Reports.
: G+ R( H, V6 C7 Z' S• Experience with Oracle Portal and Application Server (J2EE and Oracle 10gAS) is preferred.
