Primary purpose: The Social Worker works in partnership with settlement workers or
# W7 }0 u/ ~ B. n) ]# j# x0 wcommunity cultural brokers from New Canadian Health Network partner organizations to
7 E- C7 e4 c8 @provide supplemental support to newcomers who have complex needs. 7 W% ~2 B$ D0 R" g5 ^

Nature of Work: The Social Worker will report to the manager of mental health services.
: p7 ~) n! P% L' |The position builds working relationships with New Canadian Health Network partners’ staff,
. [8 `( ]' D" Z; H/ ~newcomers accessing these services and other institutions and service providers. The Social ; R& ?7 r7 _3 U+ ^' X
Worker will assist in case planning, conferencing and providing support and advocacy as K. ~/ E% l' e5 C
needed. As required, the Social Worker will assist in accessing community supports for
u C/ |. z; _/ ]: E( D( Cnewcomers and their families. The Social Worker provides holistic and flexible initial ; }, C4 ~* F; [& m7 }$ ^
assessment of life circumstances, needs, goals and aspirations and adheres to the client-

Developing of social networks and community supports for newcomer families.

newcomers in settling and fully participating in community.
/ N& b# o; l- y1 | Work in partnership with settlement workers or cultural brokers to provide supplemental
9 v6 Z7 a$ F$ }8 hcase plan support for clients who have complex needs.

Treat all clients with dignity and patience in order to listen deeply and give thoughtful

Qualification
' m" V# x* F: K( Y* f * p$ s. @% L5 T6 q8 D8 U! H
Relevant undergraduate degree or diploma, or equivalent combination of education and
% X# y$ {8 ]& o5 p; P! Cexperience in Social Work or related human service fields.
6 g* F7 ?+ `- \8 G' H; {' ? Extensive knowledge of community resources, including in depth understanding of family
9 b) N7 X# Y F$ t+ Rsupport needs
, K( S, z' {1 ?( G& m9 l# h Experience/facility with MS Office computer applications " k- e$ k2 k: d( g# M9 o, f9 J
Proficiency in both official languages is an asset, as is fluency in other languages " y+ q3 z0 d V2 R3 v1 H( _
Possess a valid class 5 driver’s license and own a reliable vehicle with appropriate , L$ Z3 P; q/ [" P

Experience: Minimum of 3 years experience working in a related field
