" h! u& ~6 `0 [) }* oeat yourself into a resolution to 'take off a few extra pounds' if you can ! i: M/ k% h5 F8 E# H) r2 s, F( s$ T
smartly avoid it?5 j/ K7 W' H1 E, ^7 I7 v
?Whether it's sharing cookies and candies at work, or having an evening out $ d  O) V# Y3 T4 d3 m, |& p7 J
at a party or dinner, you can have Christmas food and enjoy it. While you seem
7 d9 O2 T( X, Z* \* fto be eating heartily with a smile, the key is to have a secret strategy of ; V0 J9 n2 q* W" m
moderation. It involves sticking to a plan that can be called 'Eating on a

moderation plan is developed because it is almost impossible to avoid exposure . m% o0 N! ~# \8 @/ N, x  m
to a lot of cookies, candies and other sweets at Christmas. At work, you may 7 v% _% ^, I6 j6 ^4 _6 h3 e
risk appearing like the Grinch who stole Christmas if your response will always
1 [, R9 z- i2 `8 p4 h1 n/ Rbe something like, 'Uh..no..bah humbug' all the time that some Christmas goodies ( u6 L3 J; r4 z: C! L- T
are offered. It will seem as if you aren't in the spirit of the holidays ' m" {8 T' A( v5 X. w
especially since at that time of year everyone is usually in a festive and more 0 {  B4 Q, p0 j% C- A, S
relaxed mood, and the pace at work is usually slower.
1 O0 D' M6 ~6 s( m0 j/ {?A practical way to partake in Christmas goodies, for example, is to
$ m$ [# }6 `2 U( t% B/ r# }substitute some holiday cookies for say the bagel that you usually have with ! k4 }  ?4 S; V; {* n8 m
breakfast or for a mid-morning snack. And instead of just taking one cookie, & c; g* Q7 B" p7 H
from the platter, which is noticeable and likely will encourage a colleague to # A2 U: I3 }9 U% r# [
tell you to have more, take three instead. That's where the plan can come into 6 u) P: i. v% A) e0 K
play. You can then enjoy the cookies over two or more hours,ed hardy hoodies, because nobody will
0 w% Y) C6 X+ I: t6 C: m* D8 Dbe watching how you really eat. You can always have a few candies, one cookie or
7 F8 b) R7 v5 [' H* wa cookie and a half by your desk and that way it will seem as if you are

' S8 g! K* J( e' ?" s?Another strategy is to bring - bake or buy - low calorie Christmas cookies
$ Z, o" V# z; B" fand candies to work to counteract others that are being offered. Since eating % K! j7 C- ~% O2 j! y$ v
healthy is highly encouraged, health-conscious cookies will not be looked down
. M; w% B4 y2 supon so long as they taste great. A box of sugar-free Christmas chocolate
0 l& E# R9 J0 a! g7 A, icandies for example will look just as delightful as regular chocolate candies.
* ?3 k  j7 ^6 ^; K' t' r, A+ ~It's interesting to note that in a poll sponsored by the National Confectioners

Dinner, where larger quantities and selection of food is available, the 'Eating

At a party where more desserts and sweets are likely to be available, a few of
