Responsibilities
Assists in the planning, organization and implementation of meaningful programs for the residents of the Extended Care Centre in collaboration with the Activation Manager.
Works co-operatively with the Activation Manager, facility volunteers, families and other staff members.
4 e: m! W& U& b3 uMaintains appropriate resident and department records including assessments, evaluations of planned programs detailing anticipated individual participation.
# b5 F. |$ @. p, zMaintains effective communication and good human relations with residents, families, volunteers and staff of other departments.
Is knowledgeable of the Resident Bill of Rights/Governing Principles and endeavors to promote it.
4 h9 I- h# c  @5 T' c9 ~( {Participates in team conferences to plan, develop and assess individual resident care plans.
$ l# ]7 C8 }& ^, q2 L2 |7 VQualifications
' z7 V% k2 E3 w0 ]( @Must have a community college recreation certificate or diploma or equivalent, as approved by the Activation Manager. Experience working with seniors, particularly in a long term care setting.
$ t! |" N6 t0 B0 D6 j8 m% d0 G! K& c; ~; CMust be able to communicate in written and verbal form and maintain an acceptable standard of behaviour and appearance.
9 w3 K& O( ?# ^Computer skills an asset.
) A$ L! U9 ?" O$ M: P7 a/ M4 KAn energetic, compassionate person who enjoys working with the elderly and who possess excellent problem solving, planning and creative abilities.
* n5 @2 {9 \" _0 M7 JProficiency in a second language is an asset.
