In collaboration with the Director of Care, develops the philosophy of nursing, statement of purpose for nursing services, goals and objectives, policies and procedures and the description of nursing functions.
9 F- b9 r7 s0 ?' R( c3 VPlans, directs, develops, co-ordinates, implements and evaluates resident care services.
3 W& i) W8 P# ]. `! ~% ~Aligns resident care services with the defined needs of the internal and external community. 2 K; y5 A7 S3 g4 T D, {
Oversees the financial and human resource management of the service. : @6 G% D. N6 U* R
Maintains the service in accordance with legislative and professional standards.
3 s8 R6 P' Y/ b7 |$ @* [Maintains a liaison with hospital, medical staff, community and health care related disciplines and partners to ensure the most effective provision of care delivery in the facility. . D$ ] p& D/ o
Exercises authority over resident care staff such as; supervises, directs, evaluates, hires, fires and promotes for the purpose of ensuring quality care and a safe, effective and efficient work environment.
+ G2 |: O: N' H l3 AEnsures the availability and maintenance of Nursing Department supplies and equipment to meet the departmental needs in a fiscally responsible manner. 0 c" {+ N4 {' S1 {
Discusses and collaborates with the Director of Care on issues relating to Infection Control and co-ordinates associated monitoring activities within the facility. $ [7 t% E4 O, x
Assumes responsibilities of the Director of Care as required in the absence of the Director of Care.
6 h3 d: {6 x$ v; [Is knowledgeable of the Resident Bill of Rights/Governing Principles and endeavors to promote it. : q3 t2 V8 x- @
Ensures resident satisfaction and continuous quality improvement initiatives are promoted.

A Registered Nurse meeting the requirements to holding a license in the applicable Province.
: D, e( U3 H% u0 A I9 W, J6 i2 PPost RN education in gerontology or 3 years experience in long-term care. . c/ Y, I# e$ L* V- v9 P* g; @. l% b
Post RN education in management or 3 years relevant managerial experience.
+ O' p4 W4 J \0 k5 B" |Possession of strong motivational, team building and time management skills. 7 b o& ^/ K! N/ b+ U
Is computer literate in Microsoft Word and Excel.
& y8 s5 ]) D! ^+ j& d, C/ ]Proficiency in a second language is considered an asset.
