In collaboration with the Director of Care, develops the philosophy of nursing, statement of purpose for nursing services, goals and objectives, policies and procedures and the description of nursing functions.
% J1 {' ?+ K2 G6 APlans, directs, develops, co-ordinates, implements and evaluates resident care services.
. C, t( L8 s. }7 S* \* z+ i0 vAligns resident care services with the defined needs of the internal and external community.
/ n( n; S; w( m; d% o, ~ \. B1 FOversees the financial and human resource management of the service. ! O2 X4 D! r' s+ b
Maintains the service in accordance with legislative and professional standards.
" i- M% s0 u& O oMaintains a liaison with hospital, medical staff, community and health care related disciplines and partners to ensure the most effective provision of care delivery in the facility.
' d9 v" L& B9 H) HExercises authority over resident care staff such as; supervises, directs, evaluates, hires, fires and promotes for the purpose of ensuring quality care and a safe, effective and efficient work environment.
0 ~1 ]& E3 c, LEnsures the availability and maintenance of Nursing Department supplies and equipment to meet the departmental needs in a fiscally responsible manner.
% c0 L3 {7 I+ R+ m! e. LDiscusses and collaborates with the Director of Care on issues relating to Infection Control and co-ordinates associated monitoring activities within the facility.
! i) J$ ]" K2 y* AAssumes responsibilities of the Director of Care as required in the absence of the Director of Care.
6 h# q3 p/ s; D% {7 qIs knowledgeable of the Resident Bill of Rights/Governing Principles and endeavors to promote it.
/ O5 O1 }0 ?6 _Ensures resident satisfaction and continuous quality improvement initiatives are promoted. 1 {3 C# o0 m4 b" i+ T4 A) u) e# a! d% Y
Qualifications 6 L5 J& T7 Z) X9 P4 B
A Registered Nurse meeting the requirements to holding a license in the applicable Province. ( K3 _5 j3 t9 Q7 N
Post RN education in gerontology or 3 years experience in long-term care. 4 `& N! c8 U \& j; w" `
Post RN education in management or 3 years relevant managerial experience.
4 x$ Y) ]8 Y$ A7 U6 D( y) q, ` tPossession of strong motivational, team building and time management skills. 0 v1 Q" ?; v: E! w0 O
Is computer literate in Microsoft Word and Excel.
3 S" l3 ]. F" Q, O& D1 c8 MProficiency in a second language is considered an asset. ' k1 A0 Y2 h/ T' Q6 E" O- g, o8 ~
