Responsibilities
; h% N1 }; {+ YIn collaboration with the Director of Care, develops the philosophy of nursing, statement of purpose for nursing services, goals and objectives, policies and procedures and the description of nursing functions.
& L7 a) L# V- Z- s# EPlans, directs, develops, co-ordinates, implements and evaluates resident care services.
$ M: k ]% H0 i! m0 x( _Aligns resident care services with the defined needs of the internal and external community.
* _1 T, g0 ^% v0 L7 ]# ^' cOversees the financial and human resource management of the service.
/ H; M" q& `. S* t; IMaintains the service in accordance with legislative and professional standards.
5 i6 _* A+ |( Y0 M, _Maintains a liaison with hospital, medical staff, community and health care related disciplines and partners to ensure the most effective provision of care delivery in the facility.
: R! |7 x2 E; x+ V3 u J8 J/ AExercises authority over resident care staff such as; supervises, directs, evaluates, hires, fires and promotes for the purpose of ensuring quality care and a safe, effective and efficient work environment.
" n% K" N$ i9 m, CEnsures the availability and maintenance of Nursing Department supplies and equipment to meet the departmental needs in a fiscally responsible manner.
% ~8 \/ p2 z2 G% p2 |) x6 i) LDiscusses and collaborates with the Director of Care on issues relating to Infection Control and co-ordinates associated monitoring activities within the facility.

3 G7 J2 W% G9 j7 PIs knowledgeable of the Resident Bill of Rights/Governing Principles and endeavors to promote it. , ?! l7 d1 j/ v; u. K9 q
Ensures resident satisfaction and continuous quality improvement initiatives are promoted.
! i U6 Y# z" q) ^4 TQualifications " v- A3 F& A% K
A Registered Nurse meeting the requirements to holding a license in the applicable Province. % L- E# }' F) l( ?6 \. y- m) f
Post RN education in gerontology or 3 years experience in long-term care. " Z. D( p9 ]) e$ q' [- s
Post RN education in management or 3 years relevant managerial experience. 1 G; q3 ~& o' M
Possession of strong motivational, team building and time management skills. V7 N( w6 R1 w6 m8 z
Is computer literate in Microsoft Word and Excel. ; v2 {4 C/ K3 a- v0 A; C
Proficiency in a second language is considered an asset. 3 M4 r8 `* }: h# z& j- q, V
