' v& }" ^; W2 ]0 g' CIn collaboration with the Director of Care, develops the philosophy of nursing, statement of purpose for nursing services, goals and objectives, policies and procedures and the description of nursing functions.
" K& J6 k2 x [, a( F$ \$ ~% vPlans, directs, develops, co-ordinates, implements and evaluates resident care services.
# _' b; J r9 _. x4 G+ r! oAligns resident care services with the defined needs of the internal and external community. : o' O I1 O" S8 H( Z2 u; h
Oversees the financial and human resource management of the service.
! `4 Z3 n7 K4 X w% O; G8 M$ qMaintains the service in accordance with legislative and professional standards. : A& Z0 b* K( o; H3 q
Maintains a liaison with hospital, medical staff, community and health care related disciplines and partners to ensure the most effective provision of care delivery in the facility. 0 A( O2 d- r/ g, s8 y Q
Exercises authority over resident care staff such as; supervises, directs, evaluates, hires, fires and promotes for the purpose of ensuring quality care and a safe, effective and efficient work environment.
! @& B1 P! b0 G% j- A; aEnsures the availability and maintenance of Nursing Department supplies and equipment to meet the departmental needs in a fiscally responsible manner. % ?( L% @1 ?5 d( C0 f3 J6 ]# Y, a/ H! H
Discusses and collaborates with the Director of Care on issues relating to Infection Control and co-ordinates associated monitoring activities within the facility.
$ a: M- e: x) f2 y4 n) RAssumes responsibilities of the Director of Care as required in the absence of the Director of Care. 3 H9 J7 Z# W% y p- J
Is knowledgeable of the Resident Bill of Rights/Governing Principles and endeavors to promote it.
/ F; z0 B l9 _2 g' mEnsures resident satisfaction and continuous quality improvement initiatives are promoted.

* A& D( \' ?( o3 jA Registered Nurse meeting the requirements to holding a license in the applicable Province.
- ~4 `# P- u! ^, Q& ePost RN education in gerontology or 3 years experience in long-term care.
2 t$ Y4 o ] w. f. nPost RN education in management or 3 years relevant managerial experience.
: X+ `' B3 Y5 P6 F; f# NPossession of strong motivational, team building and time management skills. ( B5 C# o5 d" z- C7 ^4 I$ K
Is computer literate in Microsoft Word and Excel.
) e9 p* @6 d" ?& w/ }, W( U, ^6 H8 |4 [Proficiency in a second language is considered an asset. 8 O/ T/ _* c. i( S5 ?
