+ G* ~, \; f2 h3 _+ ]* AThe Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) and Heinz Canada are warning parents about ‘Heinz Mixed Cereal, Stage 2, From 6 Months’. The best before date codes located on the top left hand corner of the package are ‘BB/MA 10 DE 26’ and ‘BB/MA 10 DE 29’.
- R/ D8 P7 { [- |4 J' j* L/ wNo illnesses have been reported from consuming the cereal. Heinz Canada says that the cereal may contain elevated levels of Ochratoxin A (OTA). + l4 }3 M! G W8 v! c7 ^9 }7 M w3 d
) [# f) R$ ^4 `$ H) W9 U4 |In a news release, CFIA says Ochratoxin A is a mycotoxin produced by fungi that can grow in food such as grains, grapes and coffee beans and has been classified by as a possible human carcinogen.% q) ^; x* E5 ~9 m$ g6 J8 [
7 N3 ]2 B4 m- w* q$ _; O6 iCFIA says that if a child has consumed the food, there is no need to seek medical attention since the substance is not harmful when eaten as part of a healthy diet over the short term.
