PRINCE RUPERT, B.C. — A strong earthquake occurred early Tuesday in the Queen Charlotte Islands region off of B.C.'s central west coast, according to Earthquakes Canada.

The 6.6 magnitude earthquake struck at 7:30 a.m. local time.( ?/ c4 k+ r: H1 S3 J

. b# _9 a' L+ X8 S+ EAn earthquake in this range is classified by as "strong" and "may cause a lot of damage in very populated areas," said Earthquakes Canada.

According to the Geological Survey of Canada, the Pacific coast is the most earthquake-prone area in the country.% }4 g) Y, f$ i; p+ e
