approved that effective immediately, supporting medical documentation
/ ~- |2 |( ~" I$ X& g2 n2 ](i.e., a doctor's note) is not required for student absences due to

It is important that students regularly consult the University's H1N1& {4 s8 a7 T z2 r8 J: G) L
website ( www.h1n1.ualberta.ca ) for the most current information$ U* ^3 v) j1 f% G' X& M) s5 Z& u
available, including signs and symptoms of influenza and what you should

In this and any flu season, it is important to take responsibility for

2 M. e5 {! r% o7 {9 `influenza virus is contagious and is spread person to person via close) k' F. j# ~1 C1 ^! ^/ q
contact. The virus also rests on hard surfaces such as counters and
, ]6 y) s% a" B- Gdoorknobs and can spread when people touch contaminated surfaces and0 ?5 ^% a( j& q/ g5 ^
then unknowingly transfer the virus to their eyes, nose or mouth.' X" q( p! V3 ~7 H
Practicing good preventive hygiene (e.g., wash your hands and cover your
+ x4 ?* D5 ]0 G0 icough) and following the self-care practices as outlined by Alberta
0 q, O( o0 I# M5 C {9 j- m/ \Health and Wellness will greatly assist in minimizing the chance of
9 m: E; s; K! e2 w) G+ Iinfection.
