This fall, the Edmonton Region Immigrant Employment Council (ERIEC) will be launching a mentorship pilot program, where we aim to match skilled immigrants with mentors in their occupations. * V* O4 L. {! E: k9 a1 I8 s UEligibility Criteria( r1 I/ \2 G4 n
All potential mentee candidates are required to meet the following criteria:; d7 ?9 k% V+ H/ s% G
•An internationally educated professional living in Canada for three years or less $ M# h3 o2 b$ t8 ^6 i! y5 X•Have a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent post secondary education 4 @$ }6 v: ~ j% X" |" y•Have Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) level 7 or higher in oral English& v3 c% d! M7 H' r% G
•At least three years work experience in their area of expertise outside of Canada 6 ? u) V8 w3 e4 E' {! F
•No prior Canadian work experience in their field. N, ?5 C* }% T8 x
•Be unemployed or underemployed – working for 20 hours a week or less / d/ M6 s0 [( J' t" O4 D1 \•Be eligible to work in Canada " t: ?1 E/ H3 x/ i•Have a job ready resume and have completed a job search workshop q( J9 y3 w2 R" _& m. @•Lack access to professional networks 5 g* ~' w& l: y1 v•Be motivated to participate and be open to learning7 T) U% }) q; k: l5 L6 o Time Commitment 2 \" j0 c5 d: z& Y( z0 r6 XThe maximum number of hours involved in the ERIEC mentorship program is 6 hours a month for a total of 24 hours over 4 months.
