Big Brothers Big Sisters of Edmonton and Area provides mentoring programs to more than 2,800 children, youth and families. Together with the Africa Centre, we are looking for 2 temporary full time summer student staff.

Key Responsibilities Include
5 O9 G7 l: y6 i6 b( `# IActivity Planning and Daily Activity
) o7 L/ f4 T1 i& f o8 z) ?+ `• Assist in planning, organizing and relevant activities for children and youth to explore new avenues including leadership & life skills, recreation, and their cultural community that enhance their resilience, relationship building and leadership.
) a2 g8 r, L- U8 C5 e• Participate in the delivery of all programs in the areas of crafts, sports and tutoring. ' o3 L( c7 Z( K
• Participate in and lead sporting activities; know and have the ability to apply game rules for basketball, soccer and volleyball, / o: R p6 L8 u4 E! j6 s
• Provide proper supervision in all activities to ensure the safety of the program participants.0 y! Z* T! _8 S$ @0 C4 P3 ^
• Supervise the children and youth at breakfast and lunch time. }7 w3 t+ v2 K, O' m
• Help to maintain housekeeping standards by ensuring all program facilities are left clean after each activity and each meal." q2 a( B- B6 \2 G" X. m: m2 R, \

The successful candidate will have:+ m. q% \/ \- I( R% [" O+ a" j+ {
• The enthusiasm and ability to work with a variety of ages of youth in a group setting6 i2 I9 f* }" E5 G
• Experience with children
! X$ h4 l* w. L8 d0 D1 ?• Demonstrated knowledge of sporting, activity planning for youth
9 I' Z2 v: C; O4 M( n& K' r• Knowledge the English language and the ability to support math tutoring.
: t* J' G' g% J: C2 S• Ability to manage time effectively and be results oriented.% v# ?& m3 t! i o, W3 ^" g
• Knowledge of children’s activities and community resources. t' F3 c X' {, {, s. j
• A clear CYIM (Child & Youth Information Management) check 7 l* x9 S2 \8 B2 j% _4 }. |
• A clear vulnerable sector Security Clearance check # e/ P/ c, U; P$ t! e8 X4 {
