Big Brothers Big Sisters of Edmonton and Area provides mentoring programs to more than 2,800 children, youth and families. Together with the Africa Centre, we are looking for 2 temporary full time summer student staff.

(10 week @ 35 hours a week contract. Must be returning to school)

Activity Planning and Daily Activity, G6 f; _8 e* y h
• Assist in planning, organizing and relevant activities for children and youth to explore new avenues including leadership & life skills, recreation, and their cultural community that enhance their resilience, relationship building and leadership.6 [9 l9 }2 N3 q
• Participate in the delivery of all programs in the areas of crafts, sports and tutoring.
( a4 k/ x8 k% o( L% x• Participate in and lead sporting activities; know and have the ability to apply game rules for basketball, soccer and volleyball, * d8 Q8 i% W5 t' d
• Provide proper supervision in all activities to ensure the safety of the program participants.9 m# r- S" h$ y1 [+ s
• Supervise the children and youth at breakfast and lunch time.
2 H9 u% y. N* D; | @* |5 H1 l• Help to maintain housekeeping standards by ensuring all program facilities are left clean after each activity and each meal.

7 c9 d: |( A- F• The enthusiasm and ability to work with a variety of ages of youth in a group setting
2 F' H3 U5 C4 S# R9 ]$ Y• Experience with children$ O8 _$ R% a- ~4 T2 f/ u
• Demonstrated knowledge of sporting, activity planning for youth ' l- v1 K4 F% i2 ?' e
• Knowledge the English language and the ability to support math tutoring.
. I( R9 c& K" @! `• Ability to manage time effectively and be results oriented.
$ f0 F/ G. G8 D, P6 B, R• Knowledge of children’s activities and community resources
' q% ?4 \7 U2 z/ R• A clear CYIM (Child & Youth Information Management) check , F2 J% u0 v5 q; i/ T, n3 ?& Z
• A clear vulnerable sector Security Clearance check
