Big Brothers Big Sisters of Edmonton and Area provides mentoring programs to more than 2,800 children, youth and families. Together with the Africa Centre, we are looking for 2 temporary full time summer student staff.

Key Responsibilities Include& L: c) d% Q* _/ u. e7 M6 Q h
Activity Planning and Daily Activity
5 O( |# ]' N% _6 E• Assist in planning, organizing and relevant activities for children and youth to explore new avenues including leadership & life skills, recreation, and their cultural community that enhance their resilience, relationship building and leadership.4 q. Z1 X. T9 m* [+ f, p$ C6 n2 h
• Participate in the delivery of all programs in the areas of crafts, sports and tutoring. $ l2 a# G5 f2 t: r/ b
• Participate in and lead sporting activities; know and have the ability to apply game rules for basketball, soccer and volleyball, 8 t2 t% y7 D$ Q; n
• Provide proper supervision in all activities to ensure the safety of the program participants.9 j- N& E# h" h- v9 \( O/ L3 \
• Supervise the children and youth at breakfast and lunch time.4 b- k1 B: ]* }( v- o& e2 p, H
• Help to maintain housekeeping standards by ensuring all program facilities are left clean after each activity and each meal.: e* ^2 B+ R4 B& j; w! @% o

The successful candidate will have:$ m2 C m% W7 s: Q
• The enthusiasm and ability to work with a variety of ages of youth in a group setting* G% z3 G v! c% `
• Experience with children
3 t1 i, }3 B' Q5 B• Demonstrated knowledge of sporting, activity planning for youth
% t6 F, l( v/ s: D$ C• Knowledge the English language and the ability to support math tutoring.! i; ^; q1 d/ M7 c7 b2 T' X
• Ability to manage time effectively and be results oriented.1 u+ }( c) a- Z% q& ^' V* C
• Knowledge of children’s activities and community resources
5 Z+ |0 j2 [, `7 P; |5 U& G• A clear CYIM (Child & Youth Information Management) check
# h) ^; ]" c) k4 g0 x& F4 o• A clear vulnerable sector Security Clearance check
