Big Brothers Big Sisters of Edmonton and Area provides mentoring programs to more than 2,800 children, youth and families. Together with the Africa Centre, we are looking for 2 temporary full time summer student staff. * c* Z# ]7 z( R

2 Multicultural Summer Camp Program Students

Activity Planning and Daily Activity
+ n" N2 p8 D8 A( z$ e) {0 `3 m- q• Assist in planning, organizing and relevant activities for children and youth to explore new avenues including leadership & life skills, recreation, and their cultural community that enhance their resilience, relationship building and leadership.
4 X* N5 l, a$ a• Participate in the delivery of all programs in the areas of crafts, sports and tutoring. x, P% {- d: R7 F, k
• Participate in and lead sporting activities; know and have the ability to apply game rules for basketball, soccer and volleyball, 5 x, P; v! D V7 J9 ~& ]
• Provide proper supervision in all activities to ensure the safety of the program participants.* w" x, X0 r+ B2 X
• Supervise the children and youth at breakfast and lunch time.
% F' l, @0 W: V2 A% v; `& n• Help to maintain housekeeping standards by ensuring all program facilities are left clean after each activity and each meal.( `5 N$ i! r% N( I$ e+ z' L- G

The successful candidate will have:
2 H: ~& g4 w; C, C1 }' u9 I• The enthusiasm and ability to work with a variety of ages of youth in a group setting2 |7 g8 D' p& x* S$ S& w
• Experience with children
) o8 l/ C! A t. P9 i7 P• Demonstrated knowledge of sporting, activity planning for youth ! s- |" f. ^8 C& {* F, m
• Knowledge the English language and the ability to support math tutoring.+ e: t- N K6 `3 ^$ p
• Ability to manage time effectively and be results oriented.+ ?7 B+ \% J F9 U
• Knowledge of children’s activities and community resources
* r% Y7 e/ z L& u6 }$ [9 e0 h• A clear CYIM (Child & Youth Information Management) check
, c1 T$ J( _0 n8 d• A clear vulnerable sector Security Clearance check - C& U: W" L: G. K/ N6 f
