Big Brothers Big Sisters of Edmonton and Area provides mentoring programs to more than 2,800 children, youth and families. Together with the Africa Centre, we are looking for 2 temporary full time summer student staff.

2 g1 i+ e# _6 j& _, TActivity Planning and Daily Activity
y( j) T7 g% z! @) ]* O% c• Assist in planning, organizing and relevant activities for children and youth to explore new avenues including leadership & life skills, recreation, and their cultural community that enhance their resilience, relationship building and leadership.+ K% @7 B' b# C1 h) X, K* Q5 r/ @5 u( R
• Participate in the delivery of all programs in the areas of crafts, sports and tutoring.
! s# |. E$ e" [- @/ g4 O• Participate in and lead sporting activities; know and have the ability to apply game rules for basketball, soccer and volleyball,
( f% |6 i- h4 |, h% [• Provide proper supervision in all activities to ensure the safety of the program participants.
' c6 g6 j) ?3 L& r. A2 Z- E3 i- v• Supervise the children and youth at breakfast and lunch time.4 Y# z+ n+ Z e& e9 Z2 Q5 u/ W
• Help to maintain housekeeping standards by ensuring all program facilities are left clean after each activity and each meal.: n9 i2 j t A3 m8 u6 q

4 I1 s, ^3 ?6 X" y- N) ?+ f• The enthusiasm and ability to work with a variety of ages of youth in a group setting1 i1 k1 _6 F' G% s, J
• Experience with children$ ~; f% m+ y1 H. r* t
• Demonstrated knowledge of sporting, activity planning for youth
$ p0 G/ J: h7 H' F. F9 o: S; `• Knowledge the English language and the ability to support math tutoring.& V' s5 C/ G( ~
• Ability to manage time effectively and be results oriented.' J5 X: B R5 N( X1 l
• Knowledge of children’s activities and community resources% h. P# i3 F$ K- F1 v$ Q+ @
• A clear CYIM (Child & Youth Information Management) check . B3 J3 s3 u! N0 m4 u
• A clear vulnerable sector Security Clearance check
