+ z5 i7 y; D5 |! v2 M7 T: UFAVA is currently looking for a Film, Video & Media Arts Assistant to join the FAVA team for 12 weeks in the summer of 2009. FAVA is a non-profit, charitable organization
whose mandate is to support the production and exhibition of film, video and media
# X* w8 D0 Z* {' Y3 A: M" zartists from Northern Alberta.

FAVA serves members with diverse backgrounds and levels of experience, ranging from
emerging, mid-range to established artists with an unwavering passion for film, video
and media art. FAVA offers: a variety of workshops for artistic and skill development; is a
resource for production equipment and post-production facilities; hosts events and
screenings; and fosters and develops a dynamic media arts community in Northern
$ f5 s% y" y- Z9 T' W  s9 b6 f$ \Alberta.

- V3 C4 F' y! T% v% BJob Description: The Film, Video & Media Arts Assistant will report to the Executive
; O) @4 s. g6 XDirector and work with the Production Coordinator and Maintenance Coordinator by
. U% N$ ]% Y0 S+ W1 Uassisting in the day-to-day operations of the Production Department.
& q% f1 E# @, `7 J$ z5 l" F# w
4 g+ U4 f! X/ S3 r5 q2 CDuties:
( o, q+ g! [7 a/ i* R2 _2 v- Assist with research on acquisition grants
- Assist with production and post-production gear and facilities
- Assist with equipment maintenance
- Assist with production logistics for programming events
- Assist with communication with members and interoffice staff
  v5 d9 X# Z0 }) U9 }- Enforce FAVA’s standard of use policies where applicable
- Provide vacation relief

Details:
/ H9 D" O4 n2 k% C6 u+ u- Funding for this position is partially provided by the Summer Temporary Employment
+ Q$ c9 M+ k# D* MProgram (STEP)
- Applicants must be unemployed and attending (or have recently completed) a post-
secondary training
- Wage is $15.00 per hour, 35 hours per week
- Length of position: 12 consecutive weeks

; C% G; s& l) `; b- A passionate interest in film, video and media arts
6 g0 S- u. [0 C0 S- Advance skills in technical aspects of film and video equipment

- Advance skills of current trends in technology i.e. HD
- Strong team player abilities
- Interest in working for an arts organization that is governed by a Board of Directors
