FAVA is currently looking for a Film, Video & Media Arts Assistant to join the FAVA team for 12 weeks in the summer of 2009. FAVA is a non-profit, charitable organization
whose mandate is to support the production and exhibition of film, video and media
+ i+ w+ n/ ]. N9 V2 Vartists from Northern Alberta.

FAVA serves members with diverse backgrounds and levels of experience, ranging from
emerging, mid-range to established artists with an unwavering passion for film, video
and media art. FAVA offers: a variety of workshops for artistic and skill development; is a
  _' x% f* ~3 E% G* dresource for production equipment and post-production facilities; hosts events and
screenings; and fosters and develops a dynamic media arts community in Northern
" N4 r! l- p; V! d; DAlberta.

6 H3 u! R# y5 x: p- e$ ^6 aJob Description: The Film, Video & Media Arts Assistant will report to the Executive
! s* `- M8 k2 C4 b3 p  E7 {Director and work with the Production Coordinator and Maintenance Coordinator by
& ~. P7 V1 y3 |/ O( oassisting in the day-to-day operations of the Production Department.

Duties:
8 M. I- B- O4 H# @1 l2 l: u- Assist with research on acquisition grants
, W! X1 R& i/ Y/ ^6 x- Assist with production and post-production gear and facilities
- Assist with equipment maintenance
' @7 q" r2 g! v, O- Assist with production logistics for programming events
- Assist with communication with members and interoffice staff
- Enforce FAVA’s standard of use policies where applicable
  F3 T$ d8 q1 w5 y- Provide vacation relief

  i# z; z9 z9 @6 u- Y4 [- Funding for this position is partially provided by the Summer Temporary Employment
Program (STEP)
- Applicants must be unemployed and attending (or have recently completed) a post-
secondary training
- Wage is $15.00 per hour, 35 hours per week
- Length of position: 12 consecutive weeks

Qualifications: The ideal candidate will have:
- A passionate interest in film, video and media arts
: i; W2 T: T* E- Advance skills in technical aspects of film and video equipment
- Advance organizational and research skills
/ g  }9 J6 [* N& x: s, T, s" H- Advance skills of current trends in technology i.e. HD
- Strong team player abilities
- Interest in working for an arts organization that is governed by a Board of Directors
