* _4 a* f4 c8 v6 t7 G% ]5 _FAVA is currently looking for a Film, Video & Media Arts Assistant to join the FAVA team for 12 weeks in the summer of 2009. FAVA is a non-profit, charitable organization / z* f& g6 s# o7 N# w
whose mandate is to support the production and exhibition of film, video and media

FAVA serves members with diverse backgrounds and levels of experience, ranging from 1 Q1 B: {9 f% E
emerging, mid-range to established artists with an unwavering passion for film, video 4 q/ f2 A* }$ g, z8 W
and media art. FAVA offers: a variety of workshops for artistic and skill development; is a " u* @$ o8 J$ {1 [
resource for production equipment and post-production facilities; hosts events and

Job Description: The Film, Video & Media Arts Assistant will report to the Executive
, D4 q' g6 |: r( FDirector and work with the Production Coordinator and Maintenance Coordinator by
+ N& z' a @; M. _& X- Massisting in the day-to-day operations of the Production Department. ) R5 L9 \% m: G/ Q+ D
% u! U _6 `0 [3 T2 e# d. k. x( XDuties: 8 z1 ^- r$ x/ R
- Assist with research on acquisition grants
5 W% r; g( v3 q5 z2 l0 A2 z* \- Assist with production and post-production gear and facilities 2 o- k* x7 T) N8 T+ p, b
- Assist with equipment maintenance % I# T; {& t: x. x+ W4 B* s5 g5 J
- Assist with production logistics for programming events
6 d$ l- k' {) ?& j9 u- Assist with communication with members and interoffice staff
5 m0 ~: ~* Z6 s% c- Enforce FAVA’s standard of use policies where applicable

- Applicants must be unemployed and attending (or have recently completed) a post-9 b* d' C% [& C
secondary training

Qualifications: The ideal candidate will have: $ Y4 D9 [: w7 I a
- A passionate interest in film, video and media arts
" ?" c% |& Y2 l1 D9 d8 P1 ]" R! z- Advance skills in technical aspects of film and video equipment 8 n" a2 V9 Y& I8 A
- Advance organizational and research skills
; c. V2 {; X' C) p4 N2 y- Advance skills of current trends in technology i.e. HD 5 I _1 A; n7 i f. C% T, q# z. x. V
- Strong team player abilities 7 c0 p9 d3 O- F i+ U4 E
- Interest in working for an arts organization that is governed by a Board of Directors 3 \4 K. d% B' u; V8 T' d
