Duties
! t' h7 x+ X( H* ^' ?0 x$ C3 B2 K8 B7 A8 j. }& W' i+ t$ e: r* D
* Conducts isotopic analysis of geological samples using Thermal Ionization Mass Spectrometry, including performing isotopic analysis of standard samples and control solutions to verify machine performance specifications( S6 T# | q9 m1 }
* Loads purified samples to filaments for analysis
\4 O" t; P/ u3 u0 E2 u$ I0 F * Performs data entry and ensures quality control and quality assurance& ]# g. P" r1 p2 O6 b: s
* Coordinates instrument analysis schedules for Research Associates, Post Doctoral Fellows and Graduate Students
- M; K5 s7 x4 N2 W * Provides general technical support and routine husbandry for the Mass Spectrometry Laboratory, including preparing filaments (welding and out gassing) for analysis for use by self and others; cleaning instrument components and conducting minor repairs/replacement of components; checking glassware and pipettes; orders consumables and supplies6 o) [$ D) Q/ A. G+ S3 B
* Delivers completed data to users; maintains instrument and safety logs
) ]/ ]/ H! C. q+ _ * Assists in the upkeep of safety procedures and information; completes routine checks on safety equipment
