A twelve-week training program for careers in Child Care.& o" t% u7 |; {9 p
This program is designed to provide participants with the skills and
$ u! v" H, m) n/ xknowledge to help them succeed in entry-level child care positions.4 G& W' ^& r" j3 I
The program includes the following elements:9 _2 v6 {6 x7 r* e: M0 K
• Orientation Course for Child Care Staff (Level 1)" w$ P+ Q( l% Y3 W
• Standard Child Care First Aid
2 ?+ y g" T- u" h• WHMIS
$ h, u9 X, t/ b# U• Practical and theoretical modules relevant to child care H6 ?1 @& y/ l
• Components to improve communication skills" q& w& h& C' Q" _- F
• Modules on Work Place Culture and Work Search
9 }& O6 d$ `9 j4 n• Practicum Placements; G+ k" C' q/ L% K& b* U3 H
Eligibility Criteria
' W% A' R. _2 b' }) g& U• be a landed immigrant, convention refugee or new citizen
, ?3 X' ? c' L7 fof Canada, F: a: h. p# ^8 |/ G* x
• have a Social Insurance Number( u- w$ n% M5 \8 }( L; P2 \0 G
• provide a completed criminal record check and child welfare check
5 |$ Z1 n c% G& z8 ^• CLBA score of at least 4 or completion of LINC 4 or equivalent% k5 N" U4 j% Y" {; W) Q2 L
• demonstrate commitment to participating in a 12 week full-time

6 ^' y$ Q4 }2 C) mParticipants may be eligible for Grant Funding if they meet( \0 s2 M" H1 i
the following requirements, in addition to the one listed above:

They CANNOT quit their job to take the course; h6 s9 Q! T: {" P2 N9 f
• meet the financial eligibility criteria
