Master Composter/Recycler Program / Free!+ n8 K4 L8 ~3 b9 K2 T
City of Edmonton, Waste Management Branch

+ |0 N. j0 F1 VDear colleague: once a year, the Waste Management Branch hosts the
d7 D: A W2 E) S' _Master Composter-Recycler Program. Over a 3 weeks course schedule
' Z# G& m8 n' |" I. Y( G3 u(Tues./Thursday evenings and Saturday) volunteers will learn about$ N. d1 M9 v+ k# `
environmental stewardship in our city, such as: history of waste
6 |( \8 \$ O E6 l& N, umanagement; home composting; household hazardous waste;& q" C$ d" P4 G0 x+ `& f8 s+ H
vermin-composting and residential recycling.

( K7 ?* V2 \# B+ l0 aThis course offers in-class instruction as well as several field trips
! l) A, K6 T3 u. v" bto various City facilities. After finishing the course, graduates4 O. _& r5 h6 ^5 V
complete 35 hours of volunteer activity promoting the four R's:/ E$ `* s5 l& ^; X8 J4 _" Y
reduce, reuse, recycle and recover. Graduates become important
% W$ u$ f! _1 h2 }; lresources in their communities as they broaden awareness about the
& J+ G. _0 `9 G, ~importance of composting and recycling.

Examples of volunteer activities include: help with Reuse Fairs & the' Z' F1 X- Z( ~8 Q$ ~9 U8 q
Reuse Centre; helping friends/neighbours with composting problems;4 \& ]2 ~# T1 O( W
public education display booths; assisting with programs and: |' z( N8 r2 N
maintenance at the City Compost Education Centres; assisting at8 l3 @' i( Q! W6 J/ k0 i/ w
various demonstration gardens and general public and school

: m' U, E6 M7 S) AThere are many other opportunities for volunteers to contribute and0 P# P* w+ p! B+ i; Z3 O- X6 ^
volunteers are able to choose the opportunities that interest them the
9 ~- N0 ^) p, w. t8 ~. P. M# G* cmost. Curious about recycling and composting and sharing your. t: A% Y3 d7 T+ x# m
knowledge with others, then apply to become a Master0 `/ P" X( _8 r+ R+ T- y( f: ~
