Duties

* Develops,coordinates, and facilitates the Institute for Sexual Minority Studies and Services (iSMSS), Camp fYrefly sexual minority youth outreach program6 T$ y. i- H7 X: R. c
* Coordinates Camp fYrefly's year-round educational programming, peer leadership training,and youth mentoring activities8 F; X: _/ m: n) j1 s! v
* Coordinates, develops and oversees the camp application, recruitment, and selection processes& a/ ^% }" |8 F8 t: \
* Recruits, trains, and supervises volunteers who support the delivery of Camp fYrefly's annual summer youth leadership retreat( J& }( S/ ~7 ]# U
* Develops and solicits appropriate workshop and educational programming in consultation with a youth advisory committee and community stakeholders( l4 Y; m" x* `2 O6 `6 s6 G7 v% h
* Liaises with the Assistant Director to set appropriate work priorities, action plans,and volunteer and program resource requirements8 u D Z& J) H1 r2 H x" e
* Works with the Assistant Director to plan, deliver and evaluate fundraising activities and donor recognition programs
/ }* j! s M& ^8 M0 h: y9 x( j7 C0 k) S * Provides a year-end activities report and program evaluation to the Assistant Director2 w( x' H- V3 f) @
* Serves as a resource person and liaises with the Assistant Director in budget planning

- H" c6 k- v7 x. l5 C* V7 i * Develops and maintains relationships with local and national press and other relevant media; ?( }" B) w$ ^ ?% e7 m
* Creates and delivers community-based presentations on camp-related research and evaluation results
9 A; X( `" H6 {6 z9 P i * Provides support and advice on emerging LGBTTQ youth needs and trends to Institute personnel and partner agencies. k2 \" D9 w3 h, R& K1 Y

. t: {5 y% p* Y8 p; _: p6 t6 X* \ * Post Secondary diploma in a related discipline such as education, human services, community development or social sciences; Bachelor's degree in education, social work, psychology, or a related professional discipline preferred
. V0 M: o; A. t. e * Three to five years background experience in youth programming and/or community development with a particular emphasis on sexual minority youth, {0 q* b6 V+ E' K3 B7 I- @& d
* Experience working with Aboriginal and ethnocultural communities an asset
. s6 B/ e( A' }) t * Knowledge of violence and bullying prevention, harm reduction, and youth advocacy strategies% ^( ^; ]6 o3 ^, N" u4 E1 ~9 Q
* Demonstrated experience in the development of youth educational programming, community outreach, and conflict resolution skills
' o3 Q3 [' I# }1 W * Knowledge and experience in fund development, volunteer management, proposal writing, and special event planning* l0 O2 \# \3 Z5 y
* Demonstrated skills in program/donor communication, development of information, education and communication material (including web-based documentation)
