Duties
! h, E$ u& [( C
7 x; |. a5 n& Y( `) ?! n * Provides routine technical and administrative support for sample preparations and mineral separation for isotopic analysis$ J9 p: s3 G5 E8 M
* Conducts mineral separation, sample imaging, grant mount preparation, sample weighing and iron exchange chromatography
' l; W, w4 I( R! X! T * Provides training to graduate students, visiting scientists on preparation techniques
, ~' {. u; ~4 _. ^" _4 t" K * Compiles analytical data using standard office software such as Excel, Word and Corel for use by the PI or client; c8 A9 I. [6 T# [2 z3 X
* Performs routine maintenance on equipment and lab husbandry
( S) f7 V* K1 D7 X! q * Orders supplies, maintains lab records, maintain WHMIS records and compliance labeling, maintains lab inventory and safe disposal of chemicals
& X$ |# Y+ j& E9 J G6 l# P * Provides safety training to students, staff and visitors using the lab/ a" W y" s0 c: T' }; F2 N$ k" q
* Provides administrative support by maintaining records, (usage and expenses) and prepares invoices
2 w7 K4 j0 n4 }, x4 u# x& ]" d * Assists with laser ablation analyses on the multi-collector inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometer (ICPMS)

* Post Secondary diploma in laboratory technology, Chemistry or Earth Sciences; BSc in Geology or Chemistry preferred
0 R% h% t. l7 F% u2 n4 z3 p * 1-2 years experience working in a research environment (analytical chemistry lab or geochemical lab)" j9 k: ~+ i1 L8 r: R9 C8 G
* Computer proficiency using MS Office applications and Corel
/ N W: C5 Z9 F. k2 o * A thorough knowledge of lab safety protocols and WHMIS procedures9 t( z5 n3 J7 X/ p1 b3 G
