* Provides routine technical and administrative support for sample preparations and mineral separation for isotopic analysis
+ K" N7 y( n: p _. E" Y * Conducts mineral separation, sample imaging, grant mount preparation, sample weighing and iron exchange chromatography/ {6 A2 I; T ]2 ^6 X# V
* Provides training to graduate students, visiting scientists on preparation techniques$ R1 Y5 x* ?1 N9 ] ~2 }! X. b
* Compiles analytical data using standard office software such as Excel, Word and Corel for use by the PI or client
4 {, \, z5 B0 L# g$ M4 \ e * Performs routine maintenance on equipment and lab husbandry; W8 g0 f; i( ]+ k: V
* Orders supplies, maintains lab records, maintain WHMIS records and compliance labeling, maintains lab inventory and safe disposal of chemicals
) A+ }* `7 i5 |# O" D+ O" C * Provides safety training to students, staff and visitors using the lab
) f0 x3 s7 D! D * Provides administrative support by maintaining records, (usage and expenses) and prepares invoices( S6 F+ E9 |: @4 k p
* Assists with laser ablation analyses on the multi-collector inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometer (ICPMS)

Qualifications
% e1 @7 Y% I" E' Y' C; c
/ p3 ^5 y" _* }( K5 S * Post Secondary diploma in laboratory technology, Chemistry or Earth Sciences; BSc in Geology or Chemistry preferred
6 B3 k, z/ g% ^3 l, ?" w * 1-2 years experience working in a research environment (analytical chemistry lab or geochemical lab)
1 Y5 l& w: a* [- Q* s' c * Computer proficiency using MS Office applications and Corel7 W$ V5 T: t, x4 N `/ D
* A thorough knowledge of lab safety protocols and WHMIS procedures* q j. V6 I/ q% n
* Experience conducting routine maintenance on standard rock sample preparation equipment
