* Provides routine technical and administrative support for sample preparations and mineral separation for isotopic analysis" z( O* c! }0 b
* Conducts mineral separation, sample imaging, grant mount preparation, sample weighing and iron exchange chromatography
+ G5 r" Y2 U) `1 | * Provides training to graduate students, visiting scientists on preparation techniques% X) g/ Q8 y0 t, N: t4 g
* Compiles analytical data using standard office software such as Excel, Word and Corel for use by the PI or client! v$ ^# Z4 {+ R5 d+ f: b0 z) x
* Performs routine maintenance on equipment and lab husbandry
# T& o, W4 N5 x * Orders supplies, maintains lab records, maintain WHMIS records and compliance labeling, maintains lab inventory and safe disposal of chemicals
) X4 V% a1 E' M8 w( P * Provides safety training to students, staff and visitors using the lab
# D# C% g2 I4 H& Z0 P% f; p * Provides administrative support by maintaining records, (usage and expenses) and prepares invoices
+ h2 K4 i1 R: E1 }$ K: S * Assists with laser ablation analyses on the multi-collector inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometer (ICPMS)

Qualifications9 E" s; d4 J5 m2 h

* Post Secondary diploma in laboratory technology, Chemistry or Earth Sciences; BSc in Geology or Chemistry preferred1 C b; r) L5 {3 I- [
* 1-2 years experience working in a research environment (analytical chemistry lab or geochemical lab); M( N- z: L7 I7 c" U6 @6 i
* Computer proficiency using MS Office applications and Corel
1 i9 H) I% I& f! X' ~ * A thorough knowledge of lab safety protocols and WHMIS procedures
