Duties

- R5 b7 w. l( }6 } * Provides routine technical and administrative support for sample preparations and mineral separation for isotopic analysis6 I0 s* u( N% @
* Conducts mineral separation, sample imaging, grant mount preparation, sample weighing and iron exchange chromatography2 R2 d3 U3 [. `" r7 a
* Provides training to graduate students, visiting scientists on preparation techniques
9 N* V$ v) i& _# z * Compiles analytical data using standard office software such as Excel, Word and Corel for use by the PI or client, d4 I( B7 p0 p: L
* Performs routine maintenance on equipment and lab husbandry
9 n1 t" l% q' t' ~ * Orders supplies, maintains lab records, maintain WHMIS records and compliance labeling, maintains lab inventory and safe disposal of chemicals
& s: T: L! |' U8 t1 d * Provides safety training to students, staff and visitors using the lab
% v1 @9 X: n* k7 u. c. e6 t. J * Provides administrative support by maintaining records, (usage and expenses) and prepares invoices( K0 t3 s3 \* j6 O
* Assists with laser ablation analyses on the multi-collector inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometer (ICPMS)1 T* q# K" A( a2 O3 b

Qualifications$ _. R( Q- S5 P

* Post Secondary diploma in laboratory technology, Chemistry or Earth Sciences; BSc in Geology or Chemistry preferred: e+ b, s% @- B+ _0 n0 p
* 1-2 years experience working in a research environment (analytical chemistry lab or geochemical lab)' J. p$ F$ @4 j! O7 t, I
* Computer proficiency using MS Office applications and Corel+ X( A5 i/ u( i4 p& |
* A thorough knowledge of lab safety protocols and WHMIS procedures
