Duties

* Provides routine technical and administrative support for sample preparations and mineral separation for isotopic analysis
( B6 B: H% c8 X, ~( u3 S * Conducts mineral separation, sample imaging, grant mount preparation, sample weighing and iron exchange chromatography
1 O M2 O" D9 k3 Z" M * Provides training to graduate students, visiting scientists on preparation techniques
; t8 ~/ ^3 U4 z * Compiles analytical data using standard office software such as Excel, Word and Corel for use by the PI or client
* {3 }+ n! o, i) n7 ` * Performs routine maintenance on equipment and lab husbandry' C# O; k# i8 J
* Orders supplies, maintains lab records, maintain WHMIS records and compliance labeling, maintains lab inventory and safe disposal of chemicals
4 A$ D0 ~# W# N# j * Provides safety training to students, staff and visitors using the lab; }* o H3 t$ E% q' w4 k' P2 _# i" L
* Provides administrative support by maintaining records, (usage and expenses) and prepares invoices' [7 `: q4 Z+ ?4 k6 g5 g7 I
* Assists with laser ablation analyses on the multi-collector inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometer (ICPMS); y5 H4 v: x- i/ {5 y* y' s& _

, n8 n6 s. l1 C3 [& B. ^, Q( O: z * Post Secondary diploma in laboratory technology, Chemistry or Earth Sciences; BSc in Geology or Chemistry preferred2 ~# J$ N @# R) u4 ^* k
* 1-2 years experience working in a research environment (analytical chemistry lab or geochemical lab)
