9 |3 f; ^% J& {; z& |9 ~1. Chemical list and Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS’s)! o! h' }/ ?1 Y' J
• help complete up-to-date chemical lists for all laboratories within the department
2 C. V& ]8 _/ F5 H% r& k& x6 o• collect and obtain MSDS’s for all chemicals F5 K2 G% x: J8 K5 m- K
• make sure all chemicals are properly labelled and stored: B, z9 C! v- J% B
• proper disposal of all unwanted chemicals
& P: w/ W% d/ e/ r9 z* O• finalize chemical lists and then duplicate and label all MSDS’s for distribution to OH&S for the MSDS on line system.1 Y0 M& [# H/ f( p3 X$ b. I6 ]

2. Standard Operation Procedures (SOP’s) and Hazard Assessments (HA’s)
3 O) C- g! z% Q• help update the department SOP’s and HA’s. This will include verification of existing SOP’s and HA’s and tracking any that are needed.

3. Tracking System
* ^0 o9 L3 _# B2 n6 |+ H( E) w9 Z• help develop a tracking system for adding or removal of chemicals as well as continual updating and verification of SOP’s and HA’s {9 H; l7 P) ]

Candidates should be inquisitive, thorough, and willing to learn. Some education and/or experience in safety is preferred. Strong communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to work independently as well as in a team environment are required. ) N' ^, A; p# h9 N! R
$ a: R* I6 J3 w; f0 f5 g& BThis is a two-month summer position, preferably commencing the middle of June, which will pay an hourly wage commensurate with education and experience. Final candidates will be asked to undergo a security screening.
