Israel sends planeload of aid to China for earthquake relief

JERUSALEM - Israel is sending disaster relief to China.

. Q& G! k4 `) M' g- IForeign Ministry spokesman Arye Mekel says a plane is on the way to southern China carrying clothing, medical supplies, generators and tents for victims of the May 12 earthquake.

' H7 ?$ H+ Z9 i7 B( ^, ZMekel estimated the shipment was worth US$1.5 million and said it was due to arrive in China later today.

2 V3 b2 y$ ^/ i! TAccording to Foreign Minister Tzipi Livni, "This is the minimum that the State of Israel can do in order to express the friendship between Israel and the Chinese people."
