Position title: Community Development Worker

; L6 A" J i. @7 bPosition Summary: Within the broad guidelines of Immigrant Settlement Program (ISP) funded by Citizenship and Immigration Canada, and Alberta Employment, Immigration & Industry, the community development worker coordinates workshops seminars and activities. This individual reports to the ISP program manager and provides support to all members of the ISP team. 2 _# w$ | T O' `

- community development, liaison with mainstream agencies to provide services for Chinese community
5 o: d3 a; |0 v% C% o g6 ~& d1 U: s5 {- workshops, seminars, activities that give Chinese population access to mainstream services
8 a% l& y: c, F' h N) b- C- fulfill needs that are not met in Chinese community in terms of social services
; P7 g. c& K0 }1 H- develop good working relationships with mainstream and ethnic agencies

0 r7 J. U) i% O- coordinate and send out quarterly newsletter to members

- prepare and send AGM information to members8 T; e P% u8 }9 ^
- assist in special events coordinating: Open House, AGM, Volunteer Appreciation, etc.

- update ASSIST website% ~5 e9 D0 j4 l( `5 A1 C
- demonstrate team spirit in achieving vision and objectives of Centre, f. G, f" b& B. K
- participate in external committees/conferences/workshops related to immigrant services# `6 x5 N4 ^2 l' e
- assist in writing proposal for ISP" C7 ^1 q# j! u% X# R5 x* v/ c" o1 V
- write quarterly and final reports for ISP
$ Z# ]9 ~2 S' J, o( X- explore new ideas for ISP
; _9 E* o- t% l6 B1 s( @* `- hold regular meetings with ISP team
. p7 c- p) o/ C- assist with Centre’s other activities or programs as prescribed from time to time

Qualifications7 l8 D" a# s! j7 l" L( t) ]
- degree/diploma in social/human sciences with 1 year of relevant experience or equivalent of experience and education
/ x# G; q6 ^% T$ U. `- good oral and written Chinese and English skills, X! a6 j. e/ m: Y' l4 j; X
- experience in community work and immigrant services
5 h% q, a# V. O* j1 E- ability to coordinate workshops and seminars: s( n- K3 W& A/ ~, m; {
- leadership skills
