Position title: Community Development Worker

: I. U/ E% Z7 N! ^3 \8 s+ C+ LPosition Summary: Within the broad guidelines of Immigrant Settlement Program (ISP) funded by Citizenship and Immigration Canada, and Alberta Employment, Immigration & Industry, the community development worker coordinates workshops seminars and activities. This individual reports to the ISP program manager and provides support to all members of the ISP team.

Job Description:
( K7 X# v: ?/ Y$ H3 e& L, I6 _5 ~- community development, liaison with mainstream agencies to provide services for Chinese community4 J2 W1 M- t6 \: j1 `7 N5 v, S
- workshops, seminars, activities that give Chinese population access to mainstream services
4 s* l: G d# R$ w% U) M( F7 ?- fulfill needs that are not met in Chinese community in terms of social services+ h, o: o* x' g; N
- develop good working relationships with mainstream and ethnic agencies4 F4 Q0 e1 F5 `6 P- d) ?5 G, D
- coordinate good will activities% W% \% ~1 E% ~; {9 x4 d& ?% E
- coordinate and send out quarterly newsletter to members
! a9 H4 _+ S; ]+ m5 [- submit information for community news # O0 E% @2 ?/ c. Q% \' c; K8 P# m/ E: h
- prepare and send AGM information to members
" `& A' C8 k. J# u2 U$ V0 U- assist in special events coordinating: Open House, AGM, Volunteer Appreciation, etc.

- update ASSIST website
+ X1 {6 m& n# x$ f7 i; @3 Z- demonstrate team spirit in achieving vision and objectives of Centre0 u7 T0 a1 K" }" Y5 b1 _: L
- participate in external committees/conferences/workshops related to immigrant services
, V0 e$ C2 ?! E7 E2 m- assist in writing proposal for ISP( |: z+ p/ ~1 C0 E
- write quarterly and final reports for ISP, Q1 X( N& ]3 ?; q% g& I
- explore new ideas for ISP
3 U+ k' V/ f5 h: n" u% g- hold regular meetings with ISP team$ n l* g3 ?* l; `, z& j/ E1 B; y
- assist with Centre’s other activities or programs as prescribed from time to time

- work flexible hours (including evenings, weekends as required)( p4 o4 K3 P7 c, g! h! s- y

Qualifications
; L$ @- |7 b; D6 j7 s. F- degree/diploma in social/human sciences with 1 year of relevant experience or equivalent of experience and education 7 o" i; S5 R: P' \* P# j3 d9 L
- good oral and written Chinese and English skills
$ l8 m, o5 j1 N- _) o, W; o- experience in community work and immigrant services; P- u6 y; Q' W5 N* H# r h' v
- ability to coordinate workshops and seminars7 R0 W: k/ ~8 u3 t9 h$ L
- leadership skills
