Position title: Community Development Worker

Position Summary: Within the broad guidelines of Immigrant Settlement Program (ISP) funded by Citizenship and Immigration Canada, and Alberta Employment, Immigration & Industry, the community development worker coordinates workshops seminars and activities. This individual reports to the ISP program manager and provides support to all members of the ISP team.

Job Description:
* L: L2 H6 ~1 l: [- x6 U- community development, liaison with mainstream agencies to provide services for Chinese community
/ b0 ^+ P5 C6 X1 |- workshops, seminars, activities that give Chinese population access to mainstream services
) d) ~( p& L: ]' m* f7 r- fulfill needs that are not met in Chinese community in terms of social services
: b1 Y7 E- t x" v3 t- develop good working relationships with mainstream and ethnic agencies* L8 G2 W* G7 v& n; p, [( X
- coordinate good will activities
' l7 j) o) P, T2 A% G- coordinate and send out quarterly newsletter to members) M, x4 a: Z5 ~
- submit information for community news
4 x' v# D2 b% Q" c- prepare and send AGM information to members
; C- g- ~, I: v9 `$ B. p" K- assist in special events coordinating: Open House, AGM, Volunteer Appreciation, etc.1 J' C2 v% t, J5 [( l5 ^
- participate in ISP department and agency meetings/activities! T$ M( s1 }& A$ `% i
- update ASSIST website
2 F( h& Y9 P6 g- demonstrate team spirit in achieving vision and objectives of Centre
0 p+ g. E C6 `- participate in external committees/conferences/workshops related to immigrant services
- V- U0 M( d5 W* O% ^: a9 B% t" ~- assist in writing proposal for ISP8 S. ~% i7 m8 i) y; U1 w2 r
- write quarterly and final reports for ISP
% d# ^4 `# H2 W( N$ ]- explore new ideas for ISP
& z$ y+ `# y3 l7 n" F* `1 D- hold regular meetings with ISP team
" D! o# Z0 ~) ~) V/ K$ c- assist with Centre’s other activities or programs as prescribed from time to time/ b& v5 @* p b9 G
- update membership database

Qualifications
$ c& e, F: K- ^% _. p; O- degree/diploma in social/human sciences with 1 year of relevant experience or equivalent of experience and education , O8 {, O7 y& a. Z/ \7 \0 T/ z- K
- good oral and written Chinese and English skills
|4 F/ A) L8 Y" C6 Z- experience in community work and immigrant services. m5 v' e7 a( l# ~
- ability to coordinate workshops and seminars
% X' z/ S- `5 { y4 e0 N$ j- leadership skills% }/ P+ {. O, b( r
- exceptional communication, interpersonal skills7 D& u: _ ?7 w5 ?
