Position title: Community Development Worker

6 D1 x* u# {4 E5 zPosition Summary: Within the broad guidelines of Immigrant Settlement Program (ISP) funded by Citizenship and Immigration Canada, and Alberta Employment, Immigration & Industry, the community development worker coordinates workshops seminars and activities. This individual reports to the ISP program manager and provides support to all members of the ISP team.

- community development, liaison with mainstream agencies to provide services for Chinese community
2 ?/ K/ C5 i% L! i1 K! B5 ` }- workshops, seminars, activities that give Chinese population access to mainstream services
, J- t; C: L0 D U$ V4 N+ f- fulfill needs that are not met in Chinese community in terms of social services
' E/ U& O6 T) [) V5 y' B- develop good working relationships with mainstream and ethnic agencies1 H8 ^$ z. v" N- }4 h0 U: b
- coordinate good will activities
' H' K- z$ f [: G, W) n# m- coordinate and send out quarterly newsletter to members- R8 i9 ^: H( Y( D/ e5 ]
- submit information for community news
) n; {! [/ R, e- P- f- prepare and send AGM information to members, t$ h! `' f% T. ^1 s% [4 ~
- assist in special events coordinating: Open House, AGM, Volunteer Appreciation, etc.
' ~) a- a4 i4 G, _4 \! O# Z- participate in ISP department and agency meetings/activities

- hold regular meetings with ISP team, z) ^$ d: K6 x- ^! f
- assist with Centre’s other activities or programs as prescribed from time to time2 Q! G9 f. m3 r0 a0 m

- work flexible hours (including evenings, weekends as required)1 A2 F6 J5 q! u2 Y' J

- degree/diploma in social/human sciences with 1 year of relevant experience or equivalent of experience and education + `5 p( k) W6 z& }2 H9 y
- good oral and written Chinese and English skills
% E/ U0 r' M- }8 U: u1 t- experience in community work and immigrant services$ c; l/ V) i9 g. p3 Y) y
- ability to coordinate workshops and seminars
