Halloween

- G+ \8 {0 k, g; N1 iAfter I came to Edmonton, I celebrated Canada Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, Halloween and Remembrance Day. All of them are interesting for me, but the most interesting holiday is Halloween.2 [, S& ?' ~* a+ Z
My teacher told me I must prepared candies, and many children would come to my home and ask for them. So, I bought many candies form Zellers and Safeway. When I came home with the candies, my wife told me that there were not enough, so I went to Safeway again and bought more candies.
6 }8 Q" U7 a' q( `/ J7 a# A( A, v9 TMy child was shy and didn’t speak mach English, so I taught her how to shout “Trick or Treat”. She was perfect at shouting “Trick or Treat” after two days of training. $ s- v% |( _; @$ T6 W T
October 31st was Halloween. I got up very early that day. My wife cooked chicken which I was going to bring to class for a potluck. My child was very happy because she had already waited for this day for a long time.
, C9 Y) r4 k L! L* t, a% BIn the afternoon, we had a potluck in the class. Yuong Sook, a Korean girl, made some sushi which looked very beautiful. Chun Yuan, a Chinese girl, cooked some bouilli which tasted very delicious. Of course my wife cooked the best food because they were clear off." g* m# [7 v2 E' A9 {/ m# ~
After lunch, we had a party in the student center. Many students put make up on their faces and wore some strange clothing. They were singing and dancing there. What a happy day!1 X% u: t6 S* K, g
When we arrived home, the sky became dark. My child said, “Dad, may I go out and ask for candies?”) |5 y8 X1 U6 Y0 t; D/ H. D
“Yes. Why not?” I said.
$ t' Q- {5 o) ?% s' Y% FMy child went out with a bag. My wife and I stayed at home to wait for the children. To my surprise, only three children came to my home, and I was left with many candies.
' b; G l) i3 X4 t* d1 ZOne hour later, my child came back with a full bag. “Dad,” She said, “My bag is full. I have many candies now. What an interesting day!”* v2 ]2 _+ z$ Q$ h2 w: z
“You are right, my child.” I said, “Halloween is the most interesting holiday in Canada, I think.” |
