Edmonton Transit is currently seeking applications for the challenging position of Conventional Transit Operator — for positions starting in Summer 2007. This is a long term posting with the successful applicants being called to fill positions on an ‘as-required’ basis.7 ^9 B* O7 }5 j% @/ @! |

FUNCTIONS:
7 |1 g4 k' k7 D% w0 ?• Transport passengers to and from destinations on prescribed scheduled routes.
9 t c3 |# I6 A• Collect proper fare, issue transfers.
* c& h: P& g M! W, A, A• Respond to customer queries concerning transit information.+ j o; u! D3 }& e' K4 E- a6 C
• Operate a Transit diesel bus and/or trolley coach, on a day, night or split shift under varying weather # M- C9 Z. x# c# y( T6 o* a/ o" V

JOB REQUIREMENTS:
! U2 M, @0 p8 a• Grade eleven (11) or an equivalent educational level is required. Formal training in driving or public relations will be considered an asset.
7 ]8 K0 b# L( T& K6 T• Proven ability to deal directly with the public, with well-developed customer service skills; the ability

• Applicant must possess a valid class 5 Alberta Motor Vehicle Operator's license (non-probationary and non-graduated) and must have held a valid operator's license for (3) consecutive years.

• Applicant must provide a current driver's abstract (obtained within 14 days of the video test date) % L" M* a) j$ I; z* V( M8 y
showing no suspensions and no more than 3 demerits recorded over the previous 2 year period.
$ C) x: T% Z- U$ v. z, S• Ability to pass a written English comprehension test, a public relations video-test, a driving skill
) i3 P% X3 W ^& R, Z. P( lvideo-test, a Functional Abilities Recruitment Evaluation (F.A.R.E.) test, a pre-employment City medical examination and a Police Security clearance (at their own expense, prior to training).6 q" f7 s4 X7 X$ }
• Successful completion of the ETS Training Program.

HOURS OF WORK:
) h4 P( [" i2 o" D9 ^Various hours of shift work (straight or split shift), any time of the day, any 5 days of the week

8 }0 z/ }. m S# r: KThereafter: Guaranteed minimum 74 hours biweekly
