Edmonton Transit is currently seeking applications for the challenging position of Conventional Transit Operator — for positions starting in Summer 2007. This is a long term posting with the successful applicants being called to fill positions on an ‘as-required’ basis.5 \. r2 R- q, z" R" c

• Transport passengers to and from destinations on prescribed scheduled routes.
: L) `* O' e% b8 p• Collect proper fare, issue transfers.

• Operate a Transit diesel bus and/or trolley coach, on a day, night or split shift under varying weather 3 N: W! E3 @6 m
and traffic conditions.

• Grade eleven (11) or an equivalent educational level is required. Formal training in driving or public relations will be considered an asset.

• Ability to meet the physical requirements of the job (operate bus controls, re-set trolley poles, provide passengers with assistance i.e. strollers, wheelchairs etc.).
- W/ m+ F' H x• Applicant must possess a valid class 5 Alberta Motor Vehicle Operator's license (non-probationary and non-graduated) and must have held a valid operator's license for (3) consecutive years.' V' G- F9 x) \& F
• Selected applicants must pass the Alberta Motor Vehicle Operator's class 2 written test, at their own expense, prior to training.. Z3 j8 S8 G- ?; ~: Z) f
• Applicant must provide a current driver's abstract (obtained within 14 days of the video test date)
4 ~' m( d u8 gshowing no suspensions and no more than 3 demerits recorded over the previous 2 year period. 3 j" F0 T8 _/ X. N% l% d( u4 o4 ]
• Ability to pass a written English comprehension test, a public relations video-test, a driving skill 9 q; D8 x1 G7 ^- q" M
video-test, a Functional Abilities Recruitment Evaluation (F.A.R.E.) test, a pre-employment City medical examination and a Police Security clearance (at their own expense, prior to training).

Various hours of shift work (straight or split shift), any time of the day, any 5 days of the week

Training Rate: $16.56 Hourly; n p' t1 _$ e' F7 `
Post Training Rate: $20.36 - $25.45 Hourly
