. k* D$ I/ c$ EEdmonton Transit is currently seeking applications for the challenging position of Conventional Transit Operator — for positions starting in Summer 2007. This is a long term posting with the successful applicants being called to fill positions on an ‘as-required’ basis.2 r4 R7 t. W) t& y# t

FUNCTIONS:
5 A! |9 n* e7 n* ?• Transport passengers to and from destinations on prescribed scheduled routes.7 ^; _7 {/ t4 f9 ]' X
• Collect proper fare, issue transfers.! U7 X0 s: h6 V/ P2 h9 Z
• Respond to customer queries concerning transit information.
7 T# [' A: y+ Z1 y( w5 R: y• Operate a Transit diesel bus and/or trolley coach, on a day, night or split shift under varying weather

• Obey and follow defensive driving guidelines, local traffic laws and Transit system regulations. 1 |4 {3 I& f& P. W& ~- |

• Grade eleven (11) or an equivalent educational level is required. Formal training in driving or public relations will be considered an asset.

; M$ I' P+ B! H2 B• Ability to meet the physical requirements of the job (operate bus controls, re-set trolley poles, provide passengers with assistance i.e. strollers, wheelchairs etc.).
6 x: x2 K A. r# P7 B• Applicant must possess a valid class 5 Alberta Motor Vehicle Operator's license (non-probationary and non-graduated) and must have held a valid operator's license for (3) consecutive years.. j* C8 D$ V; x+ U( R& H& T
• Selected applicants must pass the Alberta Motor Vehicle Operator's class 2 written test, at their own expense, prior to training.2 F# A! O# f0 |! k! I. ^8 V1 f
• Applicant must provide a current driver's abstract (obtained within 14 days of the video test date) ) @, l C8 J% L% E
showing no suspensions and no more than 3 demerits recorded over the previous 2 year period.
# ]# x9 w# k# k! ?- V• Ability to pass a written English comprehension test, a public relations video-test, a driving skill 3 }0 L" Z( V$ z/ p; N
video-test, a Functional Abilities Recruitment Evaluation (F.A.R.E.) test, a pre-employment City medical examination and a Police Security clearance (at their own expense, prior to training).

HOURS OF WORK:
2 ^" a! _! f C# z# f, zVarious hours of shift work (straight or split shift), any time of the day, any 5 days of the week
3 L( l5 ^* v; H# A1st year: Guaranteed minimum 67.4 hours bi-weekly
! d4 d0 k& u7 v. o! S( w" bThereafter: Guaranteed minimum 74 hours biweekly

Training Rate: $16.56 Hourly
