The Organization: Alberta's YouthVOLUNTEER! is a registered nonprofit
. m. Y/ K4 [- Z5 m! N* psociety led by a youth board of directors to enhance/encourage youth
volunteerism in Alberta. By working with nonprofit organizations/youth
ages 14-24, we foster collaboration between motivated youth,
organizations and citizens wanting to build healthier societies and more
, I: a' R3 m1 E9 Jsustainable communities.

Position Abstract: The Executive Director provides day-to-day management
and leadership of Alberta's YouthVOLUNTEER! (AYV!). The ED is a
non-voting member and champions youth volunteerism in Alberta.  The ED
works within the structures set by the organization's bylaws and
policies to ensure ethical and professional management of organization's
) I- Q. a" j, h, Uaffairs at all times.

1 E* R3 t# |: Y) w2 U) s( Z) f2 }Primary Responsibilities: Helps Board of Directors in developing a
1 a$ R. _: W( V8 Z" c& b8 m8 kvision & strategic plan; Establish strong relationships & collaborative
arrangements with community groups, sponsors, governments, schools,
- e' f! x8 o! J, z2 umedia/other stakeholders to achieve the goals of AYV!; Prepare reports
for the Board; Assist the Board in drafting policies/prepare procedures
to implement the organizational policies.

PLUS: Ensure good record keeping; Ensure funders' grants are stewarded
as per their requirements; Plan, implement and evaluate programs and
services; Recruit, interview, select & coach staff/volunteers that have

. A9 E, Q* D3 D2 oIn addition: Prepare budget; Search & secure adequate; oversees the
; h. T9 _3 S7 K$ w' G  ^9 ^development of fundraising plans/writing funding proposals; Administer
the funds of the organization & monitor the monthly cash flow; Ensure
6 j# W2 [% o5 u% ~# Uthat bookkeeping/accounting practices are followed; Process accounts
, O) D2 |/ \& j- C1 c5 z. h2 Q/ lpayable; Develop communication/marketing tools to increase awareness of
the organization & its programs; Work with website contractor/developer.

. q2 D: A, _' T3 l9 PKey Qualifications: Experience working with a number of different groups
including a Board of Directors, non-profit organizations, government
0 V4 M0 t6 c# r+ Z  d; f& f' spartners sponsors, employees, volunteers, and youth; Understanding of
organizational financial management and CRA requirements; Ability to
work in a self-directed work environment; Experience planning and
managing projects and budgets.

PLUS: Creative approach to marketing; Understanding of board governance
processes an asset; Experience obtaining sponsorship and writing
