The Organization: Alberta's YouthVOLUNTEER! is a registered nonprofit
, O7 M. K" D4 p* n3 u% Jsociety led by a youth board of directors to enhance/encourage youth
& X3 v5 a9 e( ~! z$ {8 evolunteerism in Alberta. By working with nonprofit organizations/youth
; t! t; k* X& w5 A8 nages 14-24, we foster collaboration between motivated youth,
organizations and citizens wanting to build healthier societies and more
sustainable communities.

Position Abstract: The Executive Director provides day-to-day management
& A) a5 B0 L- B$ @: o6 L4 r) ~, [and leadership of Alberta's YouthVOLUNTEER! (AYV!). The ED is a
  p  }: t, F+ g9 H( x% a6 Dnon-voting member and champions youth volunteerism in Alberta.  The ED
works within the structures set by the organization's bylaws and
policies to ensure ethical and professional management of organization's
/ i) ^5 U+ H0 k1 `; W2 |6 P4 W0 n$ raffairs at all times.

- \% ^2 X2 N8 vPrimary Responsibilities: Helps Board of Directors in developing a
vision & strategic plan; Establish strong relationships & collaborative
! Q# `/ d: r1 C. marrangements with community groups, sponsors, governments, schools,
* n( C% t+ U) x8 z! |media/other stakeholders to achieve the goals of AYV!; Prepare reports
for the Board; Assist the Board in drafting policies/prepare procedures
) \7 t9 r& y8 ^4 h8 y4 r, @2 u# Nto implement the organizational policies.

PLUS: Ensure good record keeping; Ensure funders' grants are stewarded
" G9 q7 T; G/ E1 @as per their requirements; Plan, implement and evaluate programs and
( C9 P" t( v) H, j4 `7 gservices; Recruit, interview, select & coach staff/volunteers that have
the right abilities to help further the organization's mission.

2 k/ U& ]( _' m! Y; N7 \In addition: Prepare budget; Search & secure adequate; oversees the
7 g" \. l" ]; B+ @& y: U5 Gdevelopment of fundraising plans/writing funding proposals; Administer
the funds of the organization & monitor the monthly cash flow; Ensure
3 |" _0 b5 r7 y8 i2 m; x% ~1 P8 g  Pthat bookkeeping/accounting practices are followed; Process accounts
1 n* e/ [& a  z) L2 F, spayable; Develop communication/marketing tools to increase awareness of
the organization & its programs; Work with website contractor/developer.

Key Qualifications: Experience working with a number of different groups
including a Board of Directors, non-profit organizations, government
partners sponsors, employees, volunteers, and youth; Understanding of
organizational financial management and CRA requirements; Ability to
work in a self-directed work environment; Experience planning and
& ~5 b& |) o3 U9 ]+ S4 `2 R& S5 \. omanaging projects and budgets.

PLUS: Creative approach to marketing; Understanding of board governance
processes an asset; Experience obtaining sponsorship and writing
* |, m" \6 e  S  t( Qproposals; A youthful spirit and enthusiasm for championing and working
. X8 R, R" L5 B/ N7 ~/ cwith youth.
