Drainage Services, Asset Management & Public Works u* q9 `9 k) R4 a: G
• Construction of sewer lines, catch basins, access and drop manholes, watermains, feedmains, hydrants, ditches, water appurtenances, concrete structures such as storm outlets.- W8 O/ ^9 r, Z+ G" v/ o5 m% ]
• Digging holes and trenches by hand, excavation activities on major open cut projects ensuring placement of shoring, timbers, and struts; cutting, grinding levelling, jointing and laying of pipe.' j0 t" b. x j* ]
• Repairing sewer services, main lines and pumping stations; cleaning sewer and drainage systems by low pressure flushing; assisting drainage servicemen in inspecting, rodding and televising sewer services; repairing manholes and catchbasins; assisting equipment operators in performing high pressure flushing and vaccuum cleaning activities.- E7 w: a2 E5 m# M/ l& L9 h) o
Parks, Asset Management & Public Works
! o- J; q* z2 i, d: L! e- d! Z0 A6 J• Maintenance of parks: mowing, herbiciding and sanitation of turf, shrub and flower bed maintenance, marking & maintaining sports fields, playground inspections and servicing.
- n" o' A8 C5 }5 j/ r/ \• Construction of parks: manual labour using hand tools such as shovels, rakes and stake pounders.
3 x$ y$ G% m# n/ {0 j' `& p• Park service and trail maintenance: including sanitation of picnic sites, amenity buildings, repair of signs, roadways, trail surfaces, irrigation & homeless camps.
7 _4 i `+ @/ e/ ?, k6 U+ n+ t• Forestry operations including various arboriculture tasks- assist in the development and maintenance of the urban forest.

• Labourers may be provided with rate up opportunities where required.

• Pouring, spreading, tamping and leveling soil, sand, gravel and concrete.: }: s* f0 c' P+ B5 B- S
• Working in traffic during street construction/maintenance projects.3 l$ ~' a# \) T9 P5 `5 y
• Installation, maintenance and removal of road markings, traffic / detour control devices.; _; Z4 P& t& g I
Recreation Facilities Branch, Community Services3 T0 J# S/ t a3 k
• Golf course, driving range, and park maintenance including turf mowing, fertilizer and pesticide application.% \ m% G R# I! a0 H) O6 M4 D
• Internments at cemetaries; concrete pouring of foundations and markers; monument restoration.
2 b" C Y' ^5 F• Operating and performing minor maintenance with equipment such as: small hand tools, push lawn mowers, trimmers, edgers, small rototillers, and chain saws.

: o5 g3 \3 Q$ C. N W) Z• Assists with on-going general facility maintenance and cleaning at Recreation Facilities.

• Possession of a valid Motor Vehicle Operator's License. Must be indicated on application/resume.& z& H. V3 I* _" j
• Applicants may be tested, and where required to operate a City vehicle, must attain a City of Edmonton driving permit upon appointment.$ N& `$ D! M! ^
• Physically capable of performing heavy labour work for extended periods of time under various weather and traffic conditions.
: z7 h/ d) x( z6 K' q; J' |; Y• Manual dexterity to operate simple hand and/or power tools and small equipment.
7 B; R2 B0 ~, X2 ^& T! A3 ]• Ability to follow oral and written instructions.

HOURS OF WORK: Up to 40 hours per week. Hours of work will vary with each position. These positions may be subject to shift work, providing coverage 7 days per week. Please indicate if you’re interested in shift work.. _) W. u4 s0 d
SALARY RANGE: 10M, Salary Grade: 013, starting at $15.11 (Hourly). Rates are based on employee status and length of service. The rates quoted are in accordance with an agreement between the Union and the City.* h- |$ P. F5 X, H
