Calgary police have now laid charges against an 18-year-old Calgary woman following the death of a little girl at a crosswalk in the city's northwest.; L) V9 X& g& m3 d3 b. L, q# H
Police Sgt. Doug McIlwraith said Tuesday that Angela Ta has been charged with passing a motor vehicle stopped for a pedestrian at a crosswalk, failing to yield at a crosswalk, and careless driving.
+ d) O+ Z) q" ~4 O( y" R3 BMcIlwraith says the charges could mean a licence suspension, a $2,000 fine or six months in jail.
" I4 F: h+ M6 g- ISix-year-old Jenna Chang and her mother, Ye Qiao, were struck Jan. 18 by a black BMW while using a marked crosswalk at 32 Avenue and 37 Street N.W.- {: P! N% U7 c" m3 m' A# g
Chang died of her injuries. Her mother is recovering in hospital.
