. I4 `% b: u& l4 ICalgary police have now laid charges against an 18-year-old Calgary woman following the death of a little girl at a crosswalk in the city's northwest.# C$ F, |5 F; ]% |! I+ G
Police Sgt. Doug McIlwraith said Tuesday that Angela Ta has been charged with passing a motor vehicle stopped for a pedestrian at a crosswalk, failing to yield at a crosswalk, and careless driving.
9 v; P" m8 w. l" K/ c W5 rMcIlwraith says the charges could mean a licence suspension, a $2,000 fine or six months in jail.
6 T+ _( j6 t5 a7 XSix-year-old Jenna Chang and her mother, Ye Qiao, were struck Jan. 18 by a black BMW while using a marked crosswalk at 32 Avenue and 37 Street N.W.
: c7 `0 p1 k, dChang died of her injuries. Her mother is recovering in hospital.
