Calgary police have now laid charges against an 18-year-old Calgary woman following the death of a little girl at a crosswalk in the city's northwest.
* f2 `: ?& I5 z; g1 s( d6 d3 OPolice Sgt. Doug McIlwraith said Tuesday that Angela Ta has been charged with passing a motor vehicle stopped for a pedestrian at a crosswalk, failing to yield at a crosswalk, and careless driving.7 o$ E( ]$ l' o3 L# @/ E
McIlwraith says the charges could mean a licence suspension, a $2,000 fine or six months in jail.
, t! e- g6 y( S( y* ^Six-year-old Jenna Chang and her mother, Ye Qiao, were struck Jan. 18 by a black BMW while using a marked crosswalk at 32 Avenue and 37 Street N.W.% z# e$ |/ R3 l G
Chang died of her injuries. Her mother is recovering in hospital.
