　　North country scene:

　　A hundred leagues locked in ice,

) O9 x& m# I1 e# Q- Y　　A thousand leagues of whirling snow.

　　Both sides of the Great Wall

　　One single white immensity.

　　The Yellow River"s swift current
2 @, r) @6 O! z& ]3 P4 \. i4 [0 E' M0 J
　　Is stilled from end to end.
- z2 y- }; \3 _. t% i" q$ O
　　The mountains dance like silver snakes

* G" U. \, C. ^2 ?; Z- j" D/ @　　And the highlands* charge like wax-hued elephants,

; j( P. G) [8 U" B6 ]) V- y: q　　Vying with heaven in stature.

　　On a fine day, the land,

　　Clad in white, adorned in red,

　　Grows more enchanting.

! H7 _' L7 k& l; o3 _5 p0 T: F4 ~　　This land so rich in beauty

0 |$ X& B" G' r8 H6 j+ C　　Has made countless heroes bow in homage.

  X6 E/ S  V8 F( K+ S. x" ^7 B. j　　But alas! Chin Shih-huang and Han Wu-ti

　　Were lacking in literary grace,

- P  G8 ]: d. h' i: b1 X　　And Tang Tai-tsung and Sung Tai-tsu

5 L( H* C7 ^+ q( T' h7 M　　Had little poetry in their souls;
" L* r# k8 p6 B6 j3 m/ Z　　And Genghis Khan,

& }3 L$ X3 m, w9 X3 a* h* P. _　　Proud Son of Heaven for a day,

　　Knew only shooting eagles, bow outstretched

3 e3 E6 y( m9 F( f' U　　All are past and gone!

　　江山如此多妖 引无数英雄竞折腰 惜秦皇汉武 略输文采

　　唐宗宋祖 稍逊风骚 一代天骄 成吉思汗 只识弯弓射大雕
