shaved perfectly applied, even though he is legally blind, moved to a

& I2 U }7 U0 u8 \. h- qHis wife of 70 years recently passed away, making the move necessary.
6 u" ? t! o4 tAfter many hours of waiting patiently in the lobby of the nursing home,
, k2 ]2 p2 p# @he smiled sweetly when told his room was ready. ( c% f3 P/ u- O; D! o$ t# p# J

As he maneuvered his walker to the elevator, I provided a visual ! |7 u& f! I# w; n0 l2 ~
description of his tiny room, including the eyelet sheets that had been y$ _2 h4 Z& A, P
hung on his window.

"Happiness is something you decide on ahead of time. Whether I like my , g2 N& L& n. x7 D* L2 J
room or not doesn't depend on how the furniture is arranged ... it's how

It's a decision I make every morning when I wake up.

- r. a' U; ]/ F: VI have a choice; I can spend the day in bed recounting the difficulty I * A# z; L9 B- A7 V( p! K1 x9 W0 n
have with the parts of my body that no longer work, or get out of bed - D& Z, P9 W) H5 U0 z& \3 \: D
and be thankful for the ones that do.

; P6 Q4 ^- A1 g4 H. nEach day is a gift, and as long as my eyes open I'll focus on the new / V7 H4 B( y% m' U3 G: p) x
day and all the happy memories I've stored away.
