shaved perfectly applied, even though he is legally blind, moved to a
' X, L! O5 R- s+ x0 o: Y$ k. F qnursing home today. 8 T6 ^2 A" w% d! y
% S i# h4 i$ R0 C Q- z9 K
His wife of 70 years recently passed away, making the move necessary.
+ X! m& C2 q3 {8 [( k. U% X5 IAfter many hours of waiting patiently in the lobby of the nursing home,
4 k# s" W% ^& O: lhe smiled sweetly when told his room was ready. ( N/ C: f, V/ @, S1 H) m

As he maneuvered his walker to the elevator, I provided a visual F& L+ L: g. J L3 d6 v
description of his tiny room, including the eyelet sheets that had been $ ^) H$ [; f# L# o' N& J

' l$ f( s9 h, n( ?3 t$ z6 C8 B6 X"I love it," he stated with the enthusiasm of an eight-year-old having

"Mr. Jones, you haven't seen the room; just wait."

"That doesn't have anything to do with it," he replied. M" ]# h# L: `' W8 o

"Happiness is something you decide on ahead of time. Whether I like my - {; ~1 |2 C. @% S0 m9 X+ I
room or not doesn't depend on how the furniture is arranged ... it's how 5 ?/ D, ~* N+ a. g- C$ f f
I arrange my mind. I already decided to love it." / G1 A2 i( v2 W& x* \1 Q

It's a decision I make every morning when I wake up.
2 X* u* p7 c* f* E$ U; b$ F% p4 x8 B, |5 s+ j
I have a choice; I can spend the day in bed recounting the difficulty I
0 a1 o% y* E5 z. C& B+ y: ghave with the parts of my body that no longer work, or get out of bed : J0 L, h; H, j. R$ j' L! ~
and be thankful for the ones that do. ) m$ c9 C5 E6 T" H# k& ]! }

Each day is a gift, and as long as my eyes open I'll focus on the new
9 @5 Q4 C4 E* M! e/ Bday and all the happy memories I've stored away. 9 ~# A! c$ L$ L. r4 A% s2 M- ~

So, my advice to you would be to deposit a lot of happiness in the bank ( B0 N. N5 z/ M" n6 r5 G2 r# h
