EDMONTON — The West Edmonton Mall has reopened after police investigated a suspicious package Tuesday morning.

- e/ _3 x- p8 w- K6 W9 \The item, which turned out to be a DVD player, was reported to police just after 8:30 a.m. and officers swooped in to shut down entrances to the shopping centre.

Police evacuated the mall, and a short time later determined the package was merely a DVD player left on a bench outside the SportCheck store.& [2 x4 V/ n7 I) |/ M

"I think we made a very measured response and dealt with the safely issues appropriately," said Staff Sgt. Steve Jones. "We just contained an area within the mall."; u4 T" s' q2 s. P) ?! q: H. `/ ~
