+ X2 X, h( X/ F+ }, g' r: `EDMONTON — The West Edmonton Mall has reopened after police investigated a suspicious package Tuesday morning.
! {- E3 g4 |/ J6 D+ D O9 B! E- M* R7 ^
The item, which turned out to be a DVD player, was reported to police just after 8:30 a.m. and officers swooped in to shut down entrances to the shopping centre.

v$ U1 E" B5 M2 x0 ^Police evacuated the mall, and a short time later determined the package was merely a DVD player left on a bench outside the SportCheck store.

"I think we made a very measured response and dealt with the safely issues appropriately," said Staff Sgt. Steve Jones. "We just contained an area within the mall.", w* F& O4 p! O( [ G: G- Q
